    Breaking news!

I always found it maddening and hilarious that we make oil deals with crazy rich guys who want to blow us all up, but we're apparently too proud to suck up to Venezuela, who basically just called Bush a devil, even though they were willing to give us their oil cheap. They're the ONLY nation...

The Muppets is now the top-grossing Muppet movie

Across the board NO ONE is going to movies anymore. There are those who are completely too poor to be able to go to the huge expensive, crummy theaters, but then there are the technodorks that LOVE watching stuff on tiny phones because they can, or wait for the blu ray. I doubt any of the big...

    Sesamstrasse: Ernie and Bert shorts

Germany LOVES Ernie and Bert. Rubber Duckie (the German version, naturally) was a HUGE hit over there at one point... I think the techno version... Look at these Sesamstrasse albums Some of them are actually all new stories recorded as Ernie and Bert by the German voice dubbers. Elmo's big...

    Breaking news!

Why would he? He wants to be a fat figure head that did nothing and watched all his idiot followers kill themselves and get captured and tortured from his cozy little hideout... periodically emerging to make a fake rally tape. That is, unless you believe in a bigger conspiracy and feel that he...

    Disney Store Muppet Merchandise Released

Too much of any franchise now rides on how well a movie does. But even with big blockbusters, I see nothing but unsellable, unwanted, over ordered stuff get cleared out in a year period... lesser movies, much sooner. I'd consider the movie a moderate success... it made more than any of the...

    Breaking news!

Yeah, but the difference is, we had military operations in those two countries and assisted in Libya, but we didn't do anything to North Korea (yet, and hopefully ever... we'd find a way to botch that up). Kim took terrible care of himself and died because of it. It does mean his equally...

TV Alert: Muppets at Disney Parks Christmas Day Parade

I missed most of it. Mainly because I thought it was on earlier than noon, and then sort of forgot about it watching Secret of Nihm on another channel. But I liked what I saw, Statler and Waldorf commenting on stuff, Gonzo in his Water skiing outfit jumping over the castle...

Your Thoughts: Sesame Street Season 42

It was new? I took that for granted that it was a rerun, and I didn't catch it. Eh... I'm sure it's going to be on again 3 more times. But today's episode was special for so many reasons. It focused on the humans rather than the Muppets first of all... I don't think I've seen that for quite...

"The Happytime Murders" premieres August 24, 2018

It isn't so much the incompetence of screwing up a budget, it's the incompetence of having way too many projects in consideration when only about 1 out of 100 of them even get to the made category... even then, made doesn't mean they'll be around that long. Seems like everything they've been...

The Muppets is now the top-grossing Muppet movie

Yeah, TinTin opened 5th... that Dumb Chipmunks movie didn't even get what The Muppets did by the 2 week period in its two weeks... Christmas vacation will be the telling sign. 75 million domestically isn't bad. It might just barely get to 80 mil by the end of next week, it might fall a little...

Rewind Reviews: A Special Sesame Street Christmas

I don't think there was that much quality in either, though Special at least has some decent Oscar moments. But I have something against a bare Sesame Street devoid of most of the main characters... or worse... devoid of more than 2 Muppets! Even in the show, I'm constantly depressed when...

    Disney Store Muppet Merchandise Released

Animal is clearly the most mainstream favorite. Piggy seems to be used mostly as a girl's character. But Beaker clearly does quite well and the Chef has some of that same kind of popularity. Rowlf could work, Scooter's kinda a gamble (but we're seeing more of him on stuff lately... he was at...

    Disney Store Muppet Merchandise Released

Animal was in the main 3 since the 90's. It was Kermit, Animal, Piggy, and then maybe Fozzie and or Gonzo. Since then, Beaker and the Chef managed to become very big hits. I have a Beaker shirt from not too long ago, I also had an Electric Mayhem one (wore it out, thought... shoulda got a...

The Muppets is now the top-grossing Muppet movie

80 million domestically, or 80 million internationally? It's in a few more international markets and has been since the 8th.

TV Alert: Muppets on Jimmy Fallon December 23

He really sounded almost perfect when he sang... He's doing a good job on this one here. It wasn't as jarringly different as it was in LTS.

    Why isn't Skeeter a Muppet?

Scooter was made the obligatory nerd character. Every 1980's show had one. I think they even turned Simon (of the Chipmunks) into a nerd in the 1980's series when he was just Alvin's more well behaved brother in The Alvin Show. I don't think he really talked that much or did all that much...

    Disney Store Muppet Merchandise Released

I don't see why every shirt has to be either Kermit or (more likely) Animal. Animal is like the Elmo of the Muppets, if only for the fact he's got too much of a presence in the merchandise. Considering how Beaker and the Swedish Chef both transcended cult and became mainstream cultish, why...

The Jim Henson Hour Appreciation Thread

The problem with trying to repeat the same thing you had before is the huge risk of making it a retread of what once was without capturing the lightning in the bottle that made it so special the first time. It seems Jim didn't want to just copy the old show because he already set out to do it...

I wish they filmed something new. Some of Beaker's re-edited lip sync is a little clumsy.

The Muppets is now the top-grossing Muppet movie

It made basically what it made over the weekend over the course of this week. Not bad considering. And they're still airing ads for it, though not as many as they should. it could very well reach 80 mil by the end of the year at that... or at the very least 75 mil. Modest... not quite summer...
