The thing that still irritates me is the fact that some of our insiders (including some of the folks at ToughPigs, Muppet Wiki, etc.; as well as those that simply abandoned us all with no explanations given, like GelflingWaldo of The Muppet Newsflash) were able to get answers out of the company...
It's too bad he didn't appear.
I hope Chase Beecher could tell us what Clifford's role in the film would've been and what he was to do before he ended up not making the final cut.
The Muppets still had the characters playing character versions of themselves. Several pieces of evidence contribute to that, such as Uncle Deadly and Bobo "portraying" assistants to Tex Richman and the many bits of fourth wall-breaking.
I still think Sam is just playing a role as a CIA agent. In other words, an actor playing a role with the traditional Muppet fourth wall-breaking abounding.
What specific moments in "Dinosaurs" do you think are the funniest and make you laugh out loud the most?
Here's a few of mine:
From "Driving Miss Ethyl":
Ethyl: [reading road map] According to this map, we've wandered completely out of known civilization. We've passed the Mysterious Gorge...
Now that you mentioned that Craig Shemin wrote Muppets Kitchen, Piggy was Flanderized in that one too--in one episode, she was depicted as the one-dimensional "What did you say? HI-YA!" version of herself that we Muppet fans loathe and despise. Unless that bit wasn't his fault.
Regardless, I...
It's nice to know that I'm not the only one who spotted Mildred and Annie Sue in the trailer.
I hope that they're only just a few of many other newly-rebuilt characters that didn't make it into the 2011 film.
I hope one of our insiders can at least give us hints that there'll be more...
True. The last things I remember him writing for were the Muppet viral videos and The Muppets' Kitchen with Cat Cora. Unless I'm proven wrong.
If it's true that Lewis isn't really writing for the Muppets anymore, and if the character Flanderizations are truly not his fault, then they should...
Good point. But if that's truly the case, I do think he and the others need to speak out and tell those other writers how to write for the characters properly. Especially in those often-stupid guest appearances where they seem pretty much forced to do the schticks that we loathe and despise...
Perhaps it's just part of the whole "actors playing roles and breaking the fourth wall" thing that has been part of the Muppets for years. In this case, Sam is most likely just acting and pretending to not recognize his boss Kermit JUST for this particular film and role.
Okay. Just curious.
I REALLY want him to stop ruining Piggy's character and stop depicting her as such as a big one-dimensional jerk who goes around yelling at and hitting people every other minute, no matter how contrived the reason. Getting mad at another woman for innocently standing next...
Like you, I prefer that the relationship not be caricatured, than you very much. We've seen too much of that version of the relationship for much too long and it's already gotten well beyond annoying and pathetic.
I know what I just said in my message above, so I'll go back to gritting my...
I'm sorry for losing it again.
You're right about not knowing the context of the whole thing. I just feel a tad jaded on that front, since they've been mishandling her and other characters much too long and I still worry that this could end up being another case of her running around yelling...
Love it too, except for the fact that they had all the nerve to Flanderize Piggy's yet again! Jim Lewis, Kirk Thatcher and Eric Jacobson should once again be ashamed of themselves for not writing her character properly! :grouchy:
Can we please have some productions where she DOESN'T do karate...
From Statler & Waldorf's 2012 appearance on "The Soup":
After the second "That'll Learn 'Ya" clip, after the clip's narrator says "We all know what young girls think about":
Waldorf: Ponies!
Statler: Justin Bieber!
Waldorf: Sufferage!
Statler: What are we yelling about?
Waldorf: I have no...
