You can be as critical as you want...I'm never satisfied with my replicas so it doesn't bother me to have someone else point out the flaws.
I think the issue is actually the size of the nose, as I realised it is not quite as large as Elmo's nose (below). If the nose was a little larger then i...
It's a great replica. I think there have been so many different versions of Cookie over the years that he is one of the few where you can choose which version to make a replica of.
Thanks. The fur is one of those tricky things for me on puppets like Elmo...you can't buy it with the rough/matted effect so this was regular fur that i boiled first then, of all things, used Pritt Stick on. I found - after god knows how many tests - that if you roll the glue stick over the fur...
Just some quick shots of the second Hairy Dude puppet - Harvey.
He's just awaiting arms and legs - and in particular the post delivering the dye to do his arms and legs with. Eyes too...same "long time coming" postman is responsible for him currently being blind.
I thought i would post a few pictures of the Elmo replica we're building at Old Enough To Know Better Puppets.
Due to some problems with the postal service in the last few days we're some supplies short hence the reason for a current lack of eyes. I'll post up the finished puppet sometime...
Just as a quick update on my earlier post, I've used the stove method this afternoon and the results were perfect. I dyed three different pieces of Antron with RIT Sunshine Yellow and now have a dark orange piece - after just four minutes in the dye - and two lighter shades one of which was...
I've recently had similar issues with the Antron fleece i have been dying. I have been using both RIT and Dylon dyes. For a couple of projects the lack of colour was fine as it gave a nice toned down skin effect for the arms of my Hairy Dude puppet, so it wasn't as dark as the fur...
Hi guys,
Just quick reminder that Herman's auction is ending in just under 5 hours (8:30pm Saturday).
He is still at a low price so a great chance to pick up a bargain.
Thanks. The fur was actually a bit of a fluke as i originally ordered it online for a Gobo Fraggle replica I want to work on, and the image was of a completely different fur - both style and colour - to this one i ended up with. It is tibet fur and it is a great fur to work with.

So, after much delay, here is Herman The Hairy Dude, the first original puppet from my website, Old Enough To Know Better Puppets.
Herman has become a great little puppet when he was completed, and I think the reason it took so long to actually get him up on the forum is that I knew once I did...
Thanks very much. I never understand Boober not having eyes either, but i think it is just one of those things you never questioned as a child. It was just accepted.
I am just finalising the website for my own puppet building business I'm starting up in the UK. It should be up and running in...
I've pretty much left the hat til last for the same reason. lol. I've got some cord material which looks right...just need to get the right shape for the hat itself now.
Thanks guys... To me, anyone can make a replica puppet as long as they are prepared to fail a few times before they get it right. Most of the puppets I have made didnt have a pattern so i started with something really basic then refined it until it looked right.
The fur came from a company in...
This kind of came about by accident but these are the first pictures of my Boober Fraggle replica so far. Way back when i first started hunting around for puppet patterns I came across something that was meant to be the head pattern for Scooter. I traced it, cut it out then it sat in a drawer...
A couple more pictures of this replica. I am planning a rebuild of the head in the next month or so to sort out the noisy eyes, widen the neck and to change the head shape. I originally based the shape on the newer Cookie Monster, but I have decided that as well as the less vivid colour, I'm old...
