Warrick, while I have ya here...When you did your foam puppet did you do a two piece head (left side/right side) or a three piece head (top front-face/top back-back of head/bottom front-jaw)?
Just curious. For my young grouch creature I'm going with a three piece design, but I'm doing a dog...
If you live in a large city, check out your city's Chinatown. Loads of inexpensive feather boas in a huge variety of colors are often on sale. In Chinatown NYC, where I live, retail and wholesale store have ones in ostrich and more typical feather styles (I saw one this morning that made me...
Thanks Warrick!
You just seem to be the guy who always answers my questions. Thanks yet again. I'd still like to hear other's opinions on the subject however, especially if you use a different technique.
I'm changing the base material to a more solid polyfoam by the way. None of the round...
Crush Grovin'
Wow...am I glad I grew up in the early seventies. With women like Gina and Gabby on the show I don't think I would have been able to pay much attention to the number of the day.
:halo:
Jus' teasin...Actually, this is a reference to the second episode of the season. Very...
While I may cover a puppet in felt or fleece, I prefer to stick with foam rubber and plastics for construction. My current project is made of half inch neoprene foam. It's going to look something like a cross between Oscar the Grouch and Elmo if all works out well.
Anyone got any ideas on...
Does anyone know the names of the four main 'Monster Time' monsters. I really like the blue one who seems to only speak "monster" and looks like a Hoob with Horns.
The bright green female looks alot like Grungetta in design, don't you think?
Also, and forgive me because I haven't seen that...
What I really liked (in addition to the Dance scene with Bert and Ernie - that was hilarious!) was that in the Karaoke ( pardon my spelling :D ), all the songs were old SS classics except for Rosita's Olah (again my spelling - I'm rushing :o ).
Very cool.
Sorry...perhaps I wasn't clear.
It's not so much the materials, it's how they're attached. How is the gaffer tape used to make a hinge. Is it looped through slits in the jaw flaps, wraps around width wise or something else.
I already know what I'm going to use. My question is about the...
I was wondering if the more experienced among us can help me with mouthplate design.
Even after reading the Foam Book and The PuppetGuide website descriptions, I'm still a little confused as to how to build the mouthplate of a traditional muppet like Grover or Elmo.
BorkBork refers to...
How would I search for the kind of fur used on Oscar the Grouch and/or Grover.
In NYC there are tons of players to find plastic and foam, but there isn't a solid "arts & crafts" place to be found. I'm desperate for fluffy, fuzzy fur!
Believe it or not...
Leon from JHH would be my first choice, with my second being Boppity the Blue Frackle. I think Bobbity is one of the coolest character designs and I've always been disappointed they never developed him as a member of the TMS gang.
I like that new Scabby character too...;)
Kermit's Swamp Years - Did Anyone Like It?
KSY is one of the very few muppet productions I have yet to see, largely because the reviews have been almost universally bad. Did anyone enjoy it? That Joe the Armadillo seemed cool. What did you like if you did like it?
How cool!
That is one cool muppet! I saw this creature in the Macy's Xmas Windows, but never got a chance to get a really good look. Man, I hope they use him in their next project. I want an action figure :D
You the Frackle my man!
Awesome site with great images! You also indirectly answered my question from another post.
Anything on Sesame Street in Japan? Any differences or original characters?
You should also add Tingo Monster and friends from Sesame English to your site.
Thanks again.
The answer!
I've already discovered the answer thanks to Warrick! He responded to another post I made on where I could find images of some of the muppets from international Sesame Streets. It turns out our little blue friend is Hu Hu Zhu, a monster from China's Sesame Street.
Too Cool!
