I believe both of those animations were done by African American animators. I don't recall anything overtly stereotypical about "stick of butter" but I do remember the main character of "R Car" having a very short skirt!
At the time, these clips were probably considered progressive just for...
Lola Falana's episode isn't very good, I agree, but it wasn't all her fault. Her opening number, "He's the Greatest Dancer," is sabotaged by dull staging and zero choreography. Her performance of the song is great but everything around her is just boring and clumsy.
I'm not a fan of...
Very true, but a lot of the people here who are interested in "Unpaved" (or early episodes) are teens and young adults - a very coveted demographic, right? :concern:
That said, putting every episode on DVD is just impossible, not to mention cost prohibitive. That would be an absurd amount...
I'm glad that everything worked out for you! It sounds like all of your hard work paid off. Will we get to see the pictures soon?
By the way, I think I prefer your rendition of Conga over Gloria's:
"Come on, shake your body, baby, do the Conga!" gurgle, gurgle..."Yyyyecchhhh!".....
Wow, I had totally forgotten about that one! I remember seeing it quite a bit in the late 70's.
Does anyone know who did these animations?
-Letters of the alphabet are lined up by a drill sargent, counting off roll call. They then pile into a boat, which sinks.
-An elephant counts to...
Are you serious? LoL! Of all the SS skits that were slightly odd and/or bordering on scary, that one somehow completely escaped my memory. Do you know when this aired?
good question!
Of all the veteran Muppeteers, Fran Brill is the one of which I know the least. Has she ever done any interviews or public appearances? Is there a picture of her anywhere? Why, after all these years, is she still so unrecognized - is this a deliberate choice on her part? It seems...
Came across this while doing a Google search for something totally unrelated. It's about one of those obscure Sesame animations I remember well but haven't seen in years. The URL of the article is printed below the excerpt. If anyone knows what other animations this company did, please fill me...
cool!
Muppetdude, please e-mail me (click on my profile and there will be an option). I have been looking for one of those skits, and I was wondering if I could bug you for a detailed description. Thanks so much!
oh wow
I wonder if every episode exists in any one place? For instance, at CTW headquarters or something like that? I never thought it possible that the Museum wouldn't have every episode, but I guess I was naive. LoL
The past few weekends I've been watching Sesame Unpaved and Electric Company again - it's been awhile, since they got all moved around. Anyway, I noticed a few things:
1. They don't put commercials in the middle of these shows anymore. Hooray!
2. I think they show different 'flashback'...
thanks!
A hearty thanks to everyone for the info. Great site, Emmy! I'm hoping to create a similar tribute site soon, for Jerry Nelson. I'll keep everyone updated.
