Wonderful Work everyone,
I was an artist long before I decided to build puppets. Now that I have the Ripples puppet ministry, we are doing "Stories from the Brook". I have started to create a comic strip for the kids to download and color and also shirts to sell to help support the cost of the...
An FYI -
If you spray your hand/arm with a non-staining, non-powder anti-perspirant before a performance, It cuts WAY down on the sweating.

Hey Puppetise,
Good luck man, I would just like to add a caution. If you are performing for free, then you are probably okay. But if you put on a performance and make any money, you are also infringing on copyright and could be held liable. Just an FYI
You could try and get permission, but...
I am an artist, writer and inventor and well-versed in the copyright laws.
Yes, it does take alot of talent to create a replica and sometimes that is the only way to obtain a character like Kermit for instance that the designing company is trying to protect by NOT issuing him as a puppet. I...
Terrific!
Nice interpretation from picture to finished product. Did you amke a flexible mouth? And is his Costume changeable in case you want him for a different role?
Keep up the good work.

I would probably make a body from foam and then cover it. There is a great material they use for socks that I found at Wal Mart which looks like feathers. The rest would depend on your build. But if you run the neck through the body without sewing the two together you will get a better...
Hey folks this is my newest puppet. I need to outfit him and add hands but the hard part is over. Let me know what you think.
I have made him so that the beard, hair, and hat are removable to make him more versatile for us.

I made a Bird sock puppet with a triangular mouth. It would not be that difficult to add an egg-shaped body to complete. Remember that simple works best. Don't try to get too complex

Love the space theme. We are just starting up our "Friends of the Brook" to go with Ripley our signature puppet.
Great Job,

Great Fun! Love the puppy!
I just completed a new Pirate puppet that has removable beard and is very configurable - I'll be posting pics in the next day or two. It might give you guys some ideas.

I so agree with Buck. I have looked at this particular forum as a discussion about the trials of getting worth for talent - not an argument. I was sharing my own difficulties as a way to empathize with others, including some here, that struggle.
It's unfortunate that tone does not translate to...
What I was trying to point out was just how undervalued we are. Alot of time it not about the hours. I tried making a living as a fine artist so I know this from personal experience.
Right now I am trying to raise money for a trailer for my puppet ministry. I have taken what was left of 5 of...
I just had to put in my two cents. :)
I have been a fine artist for 30+ years. I sculpt in bronze, airbrush, work in all media, write children's books etc. (you get the picture) And now I have decided to do a children's puppet ministry with all the talent and creativity I posess. This includes...

Do you have the info on mercury plastic - a google search just gave too much info to sift through
Thanks in advance

"Ripley" - Our signature puppet, is made from foam, covered with Silver Lame (sp?) fabric and then airbrushed and hand-painted.
Thanks for your interest.
Goldenballs,
I have been watching him on ebay too. His eyebrows move right? Can you tell me how he did it? I sent him an email but he never answered. I have a children's puppet ministry and make all my own puppets.
Thanks

PS he looks like a Morgo The Magnificent to me :)
Just to let you puppet builders out there of a new find! If you are like me, you constantly are on the search for puppet eyes. It seems hard to find a good source. Well, yesterday I was shopping at Wal Mart and walked through the sporting goods section to get ping pong balls and found practice...
