He's a little wobbly, what with how wide-open the back of his head is, and with the dreadlocks I'm using...
Thank you, I'm glad you like him. His hair looks out of place, but I like that. He's supposed to be fairly disheveled, and will be, once I make it, a t-shirt with a different slogan for every episode. :)
Thank you, everyone, for your compliments. I'm feeling pretty happy with what I've built so far, and it's great to get positive feedback on the puppets.
At some point I'll post my various in-progress photos, but that might be a while.
Blink: They're all covered in terry cloth. Well, the heads...
Hey all,
I'm in the middle of building a bunch of puppets for this web show I plan on doing, which will be a web industry-themed officeplace sitcom. I'm going a little overboard with the scope of the thing (11 or more puppets for the first episode, new puppets in every additional episode), but...
They were, in fact, made from project puppet patterns. :) I haven't got the hand-rods attached to any of them yet. As soon as I do that, I'll send over some pics for the gallery.
Thanks!
Here are two shots of the the prototype I made. As I said before, he's without arms. I like how he turned out, though, despite that rather noticeable impediment. :)

This is a pretty sharp pattern. I build part of one (will post pictures soon) but gave it to my nephews before attaching arms. So now I need to build another... :)
Though it's not similar in content, I can't help but notice the similarity between the title "Cakey! The Cake from Outer Space" to the excellent web cartoon "Space Tree the Space Tree In Space."
No similarities between the two shows, though.
I hadn't thought about it, but I can see the two-tone look you're going for. Five-o'clock shadow is definitely the way to go with a grizzled ex-cop character.
I agree with the voice; it's a good gravelly sound, and contrasted with the puppet makes him both hard-boiled and hilarious.
Nice show, Roy. I like! I like the hilariously overboiled tough-guy dialogue. And how can you not love a grizzled ex-CIA puppet? I'm curious to know about the design of the puppet, though; is that supposed to be a mask on his face, or is that just the construction of his face? I don't mean that...
