The pattern looks good so far! I'm working with a very long pile fur, so we'll see what kind of adjustments need to be made. It's always a little more stressful when I make puppets for fellow-puppeteers :)
I should photograph my journey into footdom.
Thanks Sesamekermie for the tip regarding...
I have an idea of how I'll go about it, so I think I'll just make a pattern, & sew them. I did the foam book thing for a number of years & wasn't ever pleased with the results. I'm sure if I revisited it now with more experience I could gain more from it, but for this particular puppet I don't...
1. I might be able to figure it out without one, but if anyone knows of a good pattern or tutorial for puppet legs & feet, I'd love to find one! I've been Googling with no luck.
2. I'm really pretty down about attaching things. Eyes, horns and the whatnot. I'm using hot glue and it's messy and...
For the most part, I do use fur of varying varieties. I've tried so many materials over the years & can tell you a lot about the bad ones. Antron fleece is just one I hadn't tried yet.
And yes, I still like my felt. for some things you just can't beat felt.
Wes, thanks for the input. I actually talked to Heather Henson regarding puppets & fleece, and she said they started making them out of fleece really only because coats were made of that as a trend back in the day. Had that not been the trend, they might have been made of something else, setting...
I was approached to do some projects for a book about felt published by Potter Craft. Just found out last week that my project was too "edgy" for the editors...I guess they couldn't handle stoic burritos as finger puppets. What ever would they do with my depressed bacon or screaming apple tree?
Oh I didn't think Kathy was aiming the thread at people who use sub-quality items like myself ;) I was just curious & thought this a good place to ask. I think I'll use up my supply of subpar materials & then maybe try out some antron. Isn't it a bit shinier than the polar fleece? Seems to me...
OH gosh, someone just posted their white furry dog on ebay..whooo was it?

are you thinking fluffier?
I usually do a google image search...
Thanks guys!
These guys are set to go to the gallery or the shop in Seattle...(although they haven't sent the contract yet, so I'm beginning to think the Seattle bit won't go through)
I usually put my puppets in my etsy shop. Ebay scares me :sympathy:
I was asked to make puppets for a gift shop & an art gallery's giftable art show...
I made these guys this week... just thought I'd share :)

I'm excited to hear, and half-tempted to send a tape myself, I guess I just can't ever imagine myself living in NY...
I'd love to hear how it goes. Go, now! hurry!
