They had a blurb in this week's TV Guide talking about how while Disney had been planning a huge tour to celebrate the Muppets' 50th anniversary they've now changed their mind and cancelled all but three of the stops on the tour, stating that they didn't think anyone would even notice...
Like a lot of people, I'm thrilled that great old movies like TMM and GMC are going to be re-released on DVD later this year. Are there any plans to also re-release the soundtracks? I still have the old vinyl records, and truly regret not having bought TMM soundtrack when it was re-released...
I read in a trivia book that Johnny Mathis dubbed Miss Piggy's voice in TMM. Is this true? It sure sounds like it's just Miss Piggy's regular voice singing, so I was pretty surprised to hear this. If he did, was her singing voice also dubbed in the other Muppet movies?
Bravo! There really isn't much point in asking people's opinions if you're going to blow up the second they disagree with you. And that's all these are: opinions. You believe what you want to believe and I'll do the same. There's never any reason to start throwing insults.
And of course the fact remains that once the performers either retire or die, the only choice is to either retire the character or recast. Even when the voices are pretty close, I do find it distracting to hear *someone else doing <insert name>'s voice*. I can't help it. And when they're...
That's actually a funny point about MJ having better chemistry with his costars than Ashanti did, since Ashanti did actually have physically present characters to interact with, while MJ was probably just acting in front of a blue screen with a bunch of characters to be added later. And I agree...
Actually, the Muppets not being perfect is a huge part of their appeal for me. I always liked it that they kind of stumbled around, messed up, and often lost hope before finally reaching their happy ending. Isn't that kind of what made them...human?
Is it silly to say that the world is a...
No remakes of earlier movies, ever. However, I certainly see a lot of potential in the idea of continuing the other movies, since I've always been one of those people who wants to know "what next?" after I've enjoyed a movie.
I guess I'd much rather see some new, but good, material put out.
At 34 years old, I still look back at Jim Henson's work, both the show and the movies, as some of the finest things I've ever experienced. I have probably watched TMM more times than any other movie, ever, and will continue to watch it, as somehow it never gets stale to me, despite the now...
No way should the Muppets retire. Ever. I haven't necessarily enjoyed all of their recent efforts, and I'm one of those people who longs for "the good old days" which will never come back, but I still want my Muppets.
Really, as much as we may complain about voices, personalities, scripts...
To me one of the saddest things about The Muppets today is that so many of them have lost their original performers, so they're either walking around with some type of imitation of their original voice, or in the case of EM, are only seen and not heard.
It really makes watching those old...
Yes! I was stoked when I saw that Paul Williams was involved with MCC. I like it when the Muppets do their own songs. Some work, and some don't, but I still enjoy it when they sing their own stuff. That was a big problem with MFS, IMHO, that they just played other people's music.
The...
To me the worst thing is definitely the way the members of the once core group of Muppets has either dropped to supporting role status, or even worse, completely dropped out of site. Rowlf is gone. EM is relegated to being background music. Even Muppets like Kermit and Fozzie, while still...
I had really hoped that Rowlf would show up in Mwoo. I really miss him, and it doesn't seem that we'll ever see him again. I'm not sure if what they're doing with EM is better or worse than what they're doing with Rowlf, since they still show up once in a while, but all they are is background...
