    Kathy Mullen & Mokey...

I love Mokey and Red--I just figured Red's awesome color scheme made her a more marketable toy. Lovely Mokey has a muted color tone. Red is so bright and kinetic in color--and most of the kid's toys I see are bright colored...so...that was what I was thinking on the subject. Although, until...

    Puppetry AND Cartooning

I'm at Comic-con every year! I would love to hang with more puppet folks! Keep us posted, or however we can plan on meeting! Great idea a panel on puppetry and animation (I just know that folks in animation have used puppets for reference or to help with performance).

Working with kids and puppet building

I agree with Buck on this one! Go to the party, don't have 'em come to you. Also, know what you're expected to accomplish there--and make your needs very clear to your clients. Will you need a big space cleared? Can you work outside? What supplies are you bringing? What age will you recommend...

Inner Lining or No Inner Lining

I think lining is the way to go. It helps extend the life of your puppet--since it absorbs the body oils instead of the foam (and keep it from breaking down as quickly). I love what Sean is doing with the dress boning in the new Swazzle puppets! It's a great idea and does make it easier to slip...

    Muppet Books, please help.

All the books listed above are excellent! I would also like to suggest "The World of Jim Henson" a video presentation from PBS' "Great Performances" series. You can order it by phone 1-800-336-1917. It is only available on VHS. As for finding books on TMS or SS, Amazon is a great place to find...

    Storytelling & puppetry

Going back to Buck Beaver's original post, I do believe that having some kind of story, is very important in puppetry (or in entertainment in general). But, I tend to work in a medium that requires a story (Puppet shows for children). I have, however, seen some really great sketch acts and...

    Storytelling & puppetry

But, even Seinfeld a show about "nothing" had characters that people could identify with, with their own unique story (background) and each episode did, in fact, tell a story; a story about the 'nothing' that happens to people every day. They told it with great jokes and gags, with characters...

    Storytelling & puppetry

If you really want to engage your audience (in live theatre, television, or film), you have to give them something to grasp onto--something to follow, to identify with. If you don't take the time to craft and engaging, entertaining story, you will not keep an audience interested. Stories...
