Just when you thought I was done . . .
I found this free storyboarding software at http://www.atomiclearning.com/freestoryboard.shtml
I haven't tried it, but you can't beat the price, so check it out.
And here are some storyboards for Citizen Kane, just to get you thinking of types of...
General advice
Others can give you better specific advice, but I worked for years in film and video production, and also studied the subject in college, so here's my general advice.
1) Equipment comes and goes, but whether you're using a super-8 camera or the latest greatest digital video...
Great advice, and actually I'd been planning on that but figured I could narrow down the search with ideas from you guys. I also appreciate your point about the velcro not being as long lasting a solution as magnets. I'll have to ponder the options some more after my visit to the fabric store...
Wow, that was neat. Suddenly the magnet idea struck. I like that idea a lot, although it wouldn't be quite as versatile as velcro, which would allow placement of eyes, etc. anywhere on the head. Still, I like that idea.
Time to contemplate the options.
Very cool, thanks for posting that.
As far as picture size goes, you might want to keep those (huge) picture files online, but create a page of thumbnail jpgs that are shrunk down to the size you have them resized to in your table, with a link to the big picture. Did that sentence make any...
Don't you find it stains your skin?
:concern:
Just kidding. Sorry, I got the image of someone laying flat in a tub trying to dye some fleece. At least you don't climb into the washing machine and do it that way. And by the way, despite my link above, I am NOT endorsing that method for...
Great ideas, but this won't work for my 5 year old (or my 1.5 year old for that matter). I'm "stuck" with velcro, and it's sounding like I'm also stuck getting and dying some Antron fleece. Anyone used other types of fleece that would work as well and could be found pre-dyed?
Well, when I was a kid there was the Friendly Giant, Kukla Fran and Ollie, Captain Kangaroo, and Mr. Rogers, all of which used puppets to one extent or another, and all which I liked. Then when I was 4 a new show started that blew them all away, called Sesame Street. :p
I'm sure others here have good specific advice, but you might want to look at the general advice at RIT's website at http://www.ritdye.com/craft_abc.asp
They even have the ever popular washing machine technique at http://www.ritdye.com/D_washing.asp
All roads lead to Antron
Aaaah, the ubiquitous Antron fleece. Looks like I'll finally have to give in and buy some, although I'm not too fond of dying things.
The wing nuts and bolts idea is a good one, but I want something the kids can play with too, hence the velcro. They can stick eyes...
Hi, I'm thinking of making an "anything" or "whatnot" type muppet, with eyes and noses and hair pieces that can attach with Velcro. I'll make the head out of foam. What material should I cover it with so the velcro hooks will hold well. I've tested felt (no good) and bare foam (so so for very...
Foam book says . . .
Ok, here goes. Page 14-15 of The Foam Book. They take 1/2 inch polyfoam about 4 and 1/4 inches wide and they roll it into a long tube 36 inches long, with edges spray glued together, then they cut tubes from this "snake". Hot glue the tubes to the top and bottom mouth...
I have the book rather than the video, and they say they put the tubes, cover with cloth and add S or C to stiffen and strengthen the whole thing. I don't have the book with me right now but at some point I'll quote the section I'm referring to in this thread. Stay tuned.
And thanks Firecat87...
