I don't know if this is old news or what, but I just saw that they're releasing Saturday Night Live: The First Five Years on DVD. Now, assuming this is an uncut and complete collection, theoretically, ALL the Gorch skecthes should be included. This would make the DVD a real find not only for SNL...
Evidently the good folks at Nickelodeon Studios (who brought us feature length versions of almost every Nick cartoon as well as the highly underrated Harriet the Spy movie) are making an H.R. Pufnstuf movie, due to be released through Paramount in 2007. Here's a link to IMDB for more details...
I was just thinking that a good move on Brian Henson's part (and a step towards some more adult-oriented entertainment for the Henson company) might be to do a feature length movie based on the old Saturday Night Live Gorch Muppets. It could be a fantasy/comedy and have some adult humor. I'm not...
I was in Barnes & Noble last night and saw a beautiful book on Mirrormask that had tons of glossy photos, storyboards and a complete script for the film. I still have no idea when the movie will be released or what form it will be in, but this book gives me a lot of hope.
Just thought it might be interesting to find out what you guys' user names mean. I realize that a lot of them are Muppet-based, so those are pretty obvious, but some are really unique, and I know I'd be interested to hear their origins.
As for me, I chose Lowercasegods because a few years ago...
I've posted my artwork here on several occassions, but based on the suggestion of the ever-cool moderator Fozzie Bear, I'm actually posting a link to my website. On it you can find comic strips, comic books, commercial art, greeting cards, a photo gallery, caricatures, children's books and a lot...
Here's my thoughts. Take 'em with not a grain but a two pound bag of salt, for they are only thoughts.
When the Muppets premeried by in 1955 on Sam and Friends, I think it's safe to say they were, for the time, edgy. They were kind of violent, and definitely had a wild, going-against-the-grain...
When the news broke back in 2002 that an HIV afflicted Muppet would appear in the South African production of Sesame Street, I was working as a staff cartoonist for a couple college newspapers in Michigan. A friend of mine who was editor on one of the papers told me he was going to write an...
I have a two-part question that I'd appreciate anyone with a little info to try and answer:
1. Does anyone know if The Jim Henson Company ever sued or at least threatened legal action against any production or company for their puppets resembling the Muppets a little too closely (or for that...
I've been a part of these boards for over a year now, and have been a fan of this site since its inception. In that time, I've seen some really cool offerings by other fans (particularly Buck Beaver), and have been anxious to share some of my own. So that's what I'm doing with this thread...
Does anyone know the exact process for how they build Miss Piggy's head? I assume her body is stitched together similarly to every other Muppet, but I know that her head is sculpted somehow. Do they have a mold that they pour into to build it, or is it snipped foam (man, that would be tedious!)...
My girlfriend brought up an interesting question last night: In the case of "anything" Muppets, such as those which frequently have their eyes, nose, ears, hair or whatever changed around to suit a new character, what do they use to apply these new pieces to the puppets? When I was a kid I...
Jim Henson had a handful of stock gags that he employed throughout his career, comic bits that would become synonymous with the Muppets: Characters exploding, characters getting eaten, characters getting beaten up and characters flying through the air to name a few.
But the one gag that seems...
Superherohype.com just posted this. It's the link to Mirrormask's official website. Just thought it'd be of interest to anyone who may have thought this project was dead in the water. Obviously it is gonna happen, so I'm extremely excited! Anyway, check this out...
