I love Veggie Tales, and I consider it one of the absolute best testaments to Christianity in the media today. Let's face it, most Christian programming tends to be rather dull and quite preachy. Veggie Tales presents their videos in an incredibly entertaining manner, with unique characters...
Snicket seems quite popular around here! I want to get the series, only read the first so far. I could just get them from the library, but I'd like to *buy* them... My aunt lent me his Unauthorized Autobiography last year. The cover and first chapter cracked me up, and after that, I had no clue...
Sounds like we've got very similar taste in books! I LOVE children's books. Always gravitate that way first, like you. Almost all of my favorite books - pretty much all the books I read voluntarily - are children's books. The others usually are fantasy or involve the supernatural or...
My brother got most of his costume together today. He found a really neat white ruffled shirt (more than $30), a pair of black pants at the thrift store that he cut up to look ragged, and a brown vest. He has a ton of bandanas too.

I agree. I tend to get excited when I see a parody of something I love, whether it's a good parody or not. It's nice to just see that people think it's important enough to make fun of it. With Clay Aiken's album coming out this week, I'm kinda hoping SNL will do something next week making fun of...
I think it's a hoot watching things on TBS. They do such a ridiculous job of dubbing. I don't mind really, because I am not a fan of profanity and it's nice to watch movies without having to listen to a lot of that. Then I see all these movies that seem so mild, like "Blues Brothers" and "The...
I didn't know Weird Al had to pay because of using the music, but that makes sense. I also thought the skit was very... mediocre. Personally, while I usually watch SNL, I don't find much on the show very funny these days. I wish they'd show old episodes with Dan Akroyd and John Belushi and...
I love Silverstein's writing. One of my absolute favorites. His poetry is by turns hilarious and thought-provoking, he helped the Irish Rovers rise to popularity with "The Unicorn," and "The Giving Tree" is an incredibly sweet story.
Not too crazy, I did that too - and there were an hours'...
Awesome books! All among my favorites. And I loved "Eyes of the Dragon" too. I usually don't like King much because he is too violent, but that novel is fantasy, not horror, and has the advantage of King's wonderful storytelling skills without much of the gore. :)

I agree about the straight music thing, I thought the same when it first came on. I thought, "Oh, awesome, Justin and KErmit are gonna sing 'Rainbow Connection' together! :)" And once the fake Kermit popped up I was kinda disappointed too. It could've been really sweet, and was for a while... Ah...
This reminds me a little of something that happened to my uncle when he was a kid. If I recall, it was Christmas Eve, my grandma was the pastor, they were about to go to the evening service and my uncle was fooling around in the backyard. He climbed up a tree in his nice clothes and everything...
Cool. I could totally see Jim Carrey as Darren - he really looks the part and I think he would really act the part too - but I like Will Ferrell a lot and I'm sure he can pull it off. And Nicole Kidman should be great. :)

They never *do* get permission to make fun of people, though, do they? Other than with the guest host maybe. SNL slams pretty much anything and everything. And very often, there's really no basis in reality. I think their funniest impersonations et. al. are when they're based on actual...
