There is so much talent here, such a great skillful job, you must be very dissapointed to have to let them go. But its great that you ae out there to keep these special pieces 'alive'.
Hey Hey, the JimHensonHour, wait a minute, there should be room for every kind of art form, and I don't agree that Manga or Anime is 'killing' American art, Some films like Howl's Moving Castle are great. Brian Froud is actually English anyway. But I do agree that a Brian Froud Comic would be...
With so many bad reviews from Labyrinth fans, I'm saving my money, I have seen the poster, which I thought wasn't that bad, and I've seen glimpses online, but I think that this is one thing I am not going to part with my cash for.
Its such a shame that all these pieses aren't out there for us all to see, so much work went into the making of the look of this film, and its mostly forgotten about, or like Hoggle, until recently, left to rot, I mean, does latex just dis-integrate over time? What about the masks from the film...
The old Hoggle and the 'new' Hoggle just don't compare, as well as textured weatherd skill, Hoggle's face is full of hair. When you look at Hoggle in the movie its hard to believe his is made from latex, his face almost seems sculpted from wax, I still, look at Hoggle as if he were real, he...
They look so much younger than the art Froud released before, Im very glad of that, she looks more angel-like than an old wise mysterious character.
So the puppets look great, its just teaming them with those backgrounds I 'm worried about.
But anyway, try and not to get my expectations too...
Okay, so who can blame me for looking at the live journal? any curious fan would, so I popped over there and looked at the manga, as closely as I could.
My first reaction was shock, to see the characters in manga style, and in black and white (Im sorry Im not knowlegeable about the art form)...
Bare in mind the fact that I have only seen this film once in the cinema, I thought then when Helena looked out of the windows into her 'real' life she was somehow seeing herself as she might become in the future if she didnt change her ways. She regretted acting the way she had done with her...
yeah this is a great idea, its odd though as I picture it in my mind, all eighties like the first movie, even the narrator, The Dark Crystal just appears that way,
in a land far far away...
:)
That is a very wise decission, it makes sense to work with the latex as it is so durable, but for our beady eyes, and to preserve the history, unlike the poor rotten Hoggle, its very mportant that i think they produce such things for us to view. And how glad I am they do, even if I can only view...
Laszlo your a gem *hugs* all the pickies YAY! I cant believe they did the Lion the Witch and The Wardrobe, thats like my favourite kids programme, fond memories :). Great we can see this, and good for them to show their range of talents and glorious work, no Labyrinth? But Dark Crystal!!!
