The one I hear quite frequently goes something like this:
"a combination of marionettes, and foam-rubber hand puppets."
or
"Special puppets built for television by Jim Henson."
I got my first professional job in August. Well, actually, I volunteered. As some of you know, I intern at my local PBS station. Well, we were getting ready for our "Friends of Sesame Street Club" pledge drive. And during the pledge drive, we always use costume characters, human characters and...
My vote: Yes
This is practically a household name, and some Muppet merchandise includes the word "Muppet" in a dictionary style defenition. Besides, Muppets and Jim Henson are in the encyclopedia, so why can't Muppet be in the dictionary?
I remember reading in Jim Henson: The Works, that they started building Muppets out of foam because they ran out of the material they used the build the Muppets, and that the material was no longer in stock. What material was this?
Oh, and this is my 400th post!
Do fans of the HBO series count? I love Little Lulu, I watch "The Little Lulu Show" on HBO everyday. The only vintage cartoons I've seen though are Bargain Counter Attack, and A Bout with a Trout (both very funny!)
Let's face it, someone is bound to make a mistake while building puppets, but some mistakes are just too big to handle. I don't know about you guys, but here are some of my biggest mistakes.
* Attaching the foam head to the foam body. (talk about your stiff necks.)
* Using cardboard for the...
TESTIFY BROTHER! HALLELUJAH! :)
SpongeBob is the worst thing to come around in animation! I tried to watch ONE, count em O-N-E episode, and my brain literally started melting. Take my advice, if you want to watch a "NickToon", make it Rocko's Modern Life.
Funny, I intern at my PBS, and they haven't been doing anything like this. I hope they do rerun some season 34 episodes though...in my opinion, season 34 was THE BEST so far of "The New" Sesame Street.
I was sure muppeteers would get payed HUGE bucks, since Muppets are so popular, like I said, if Jim Henson hadn't invented the muppets, puppets probably wouldn't even be popular. Than again...Sesame Workshop IS non-profit, but still I was sure they got paid huge salaries.
My favorite comic strips: (all caps mean top favorite(s))
* Zits
* Fox Trot
* Classic Peanuts (a.k.a. Peanuts)
* Garfield
* GET FUZZY
* Stone Soup
* MOTHER GOOSE AND GRIMM
* Beetle Bailey
* Pickles
* Snuffy Smith
* Marvin
* Baldo
* Rose is Rose
My favorite animated cartoons...
No...all I remember is what I posted. I do agree with you guys, I was about 9 at that time, and asked my dad "why do you watch that stuff?" "Because it interests me" he replied. I do also remember what year I saw it, it was 1998. Maybe that'll spark a clue.
Several years ago, I watched some movie with my dad. He's interested in "Court TV" stuff, and this was obviously a court TV movie. I don't remember much about, except for a few little scenes, that have been driving me crazy for the past week or so. In this scene, a recently married couple (with...
Tried a Sam Goody today, and found it on sale for $32.99! Yay...the flying squirrel and bull moose's second season is now in my posesion! Loved the special features too! The design of the case and the disc menus were better than season 1. I have a feeling though that season 3 will be even harder...
