The 90s and early 2000s were obviously a big era for that trial-and-error phase. Just to name a few others: Ruby Monster, Merry Monster, Chicago the Lion, Kingston Livingston III, Roxie Marie, Joey and Davey Monkey, and even human characters like Mr. Handford, Savion, Carlo, Celina, etc.

Yes! Thank you! I love the episode "Candle Jack", where Freakazoid stopped filming, to show the kids watching "behind-the-scenes" of the various characters, and refered to them by their actor's names, ala Hunterhanker as "Kenny Mars", and Cosgrove as "Eddie Asner", lol.

Aww man, this is sad, he was both a great voice and character actor. I agree with Brian, he was great in Young Frankenstein. I also liked his character on Freakazoid!, I just can't remember his name at the moment.

It doesn't matter, if they're Henson related, they're still Muppets. Like Drtooth said, the characters on SST ARE still refered to as Muppets, because they ARE Muppets. They come from Jim Henson's Creature Shop, as do just about ALL Henson-related puppets, whether they be owned by Disney, owned...
