I often get on Muppet Central on my iPhone, and the bottom half appears black for a few seconds if I'm scrolling slowly, but if I scroll fast or keep scrolling past the black part, the screen stays all-black (even if I move up to where it hadn't been black). And not just when I look at posts...
When Jerry Nelson was interviewed for Muppet Central back in 1998, he mentioned that he performed Statler in Sex and Violence and something else before The Muppet Show began. I wonder if he actually did perform Statler somewhere else, or if he was misremembering. I don't think there's any...
I thought that the Mummenshaz episode was tapped much earlier. It feels more like an "early first season show", and has The Newsman without his glasses (though they could have tapped that part at an earlier date -- there was probably a day where they recorded multiple News segments for the...
Just recently, I was watching the original Cat in the Hat animated special, and there's one joke that I misunderstood for years. Near the beginning, while the kids are looking out the window bored because it's raining and they can't go outside to have fun, there's a song playing about there...
I never thought about that, but it makes sense. But thinking about that, it would make sense for contestants on other game shows to want copies of their appearances.
And I wonder if they only sell copies to the people who appear in those episodes, or if they would sell episodes from eras that...
I should point out that Sesame Workshop is not the only company to (usually) not give/sell individual episodes to fans. This is the standard for pretty much all production companies.
I remember a long time ago, the FAQ for Henson.com had a question about buying individual episodes from the...
I hope that's not why Disney has not released a lot of pre-2004 Muppet productions. Jim's name is in the credits (and for the post-1990 productions, his name is in the Jim Henson Productions/Jim Henson Television credits). Then again, would they have to pay for the use of his credit in...
I've often seen that fact written, but I wonder if it is true or just "common knowledge". After all, only one cast member said the line. I wonder if that line was written or ad-libbed (I know Lorne Michaels has a policy against ad-libbing, but did Jean Dominian?), and if it was written, was it...
I think the idea of throwing a temper tantrum to get ones way is very funny, but I also feel like it's the wrong way to go about this. Though I don't know what the right way is beyond hoping and patiently waiting for more.
So in regards to SNL's Celebrity Jeopardy segments, where the clues are really easy and the contestants still get every answer (question?) wrong.... Are these segments supposed to imply that celebrities are stupid or something? It's funny that people are getting obvious answers wrong, but it...
Can't remember if I've pointed it out here before (I recently did on Facebook), but Saturday Night Live has had three seasons (6, 11, and 20) that were so bad that the show was almost canceled. That includes the first season without Lorne Michaels and the first season after he came back.
I saw most of it (and bits and pieces of the pre-show). But what was the opening monologue about? They talk about hosts, but with people saying things like "what about female hosts" or "musical guests who've hosted".... Was Steve Martin initially talking about a certain kind of host?
I'm glad...
Wait, was tape trading common in the days before the internet (or the days before practically everybody had the internet)? You'd have to know if somebody had something you wanted, and I don't think that kind of thing would be advertised in newspapers.
I read the last few of these articles again today, and it was great to read them again (one of them I think I previously only read once, but remembered quite a bit).
There's a number of interesting things about these articles, making things hilarious in hindsight. The articles showed concern...
There was an article from 1999 where it was said that every few years they made new copies of every episode because they don't know what video formats will last, and in 1999 they made digital copies so they wouldn't have to do it again.
In that article, it mentioned that in addition to...
The main thing that got me wondering about the uselessness was the fact that the guard just stopped guarding the first painting that got stolen to go on a cookie break, without getting someone else to guard it.
I don't think of it as hoarding. But recently, I started thinking about how a lot of production companies keep their master tapes for shows that they don't even put out there for the public to see, particular long-running shows like Sesame Street where a large portion of the episodes haven't...
I knew who he was before I knew he was an SNL cast member (which was before I knew of the majority of the shows cast members). Saw his name in the cast listings for Earth Girls are Easy and Dumb and Dumber in a video movie guide, but didn't exactly know who he played in those movies. And then I...
I want to start a Muppet Wiki page for this, but I'm not sure how to source it. The only source I've seen is from Tough Pigs' Facebook and forum posts. Tough Pigs has not yet posted an article about them (I think it was said that Tough Pigs will hold off on Muppet Toy Fair coverage until next...
It's interesting that Animal isn't included in the first assortment. Makes me wonder if they plan to get the rest of the Electric Mayhem and include Animal then.
Tough Pigs says that the figures will come in two-packs. I wonder who will be paired with who. Bunsen and Beaker would be obvious...
