i glue the mouth plate in first actually, and often times i will wrap about an 1/8 of an inch of the foam over the edge of the mouth plate,
then i go in and cover with fabric, if the materila has the right amount of give and strecth you should be able to wrap the edge with out any problems...
well blinking eyes are a real challenge even for characters with out such a extreme eye shape, mouth sync is somthing different ,
but recardless you are amking a assumption that many novices and people with little puppet designing, and building expierience make, that is thinking of the...
first of all u will never get all of the movments of a cartoon character into a puppet ,cartoons stretch and squash in a way that puppets do not,
secondly you will need to figure out what sort of materials u will use, are you going to sculpt then cast the puppet in foam latex?or build it...
i see that the identity was cleared up, but another way of telling the difference is the fleece texture, kermits is not made of the standrad antron fleece that everyone can get , its more matte in finnish, and is stiffer and less stretchy , just a little tidbit i thought i would share
