Bear arrives on Disney+ The beloved series has been off the air for the past 15 years. Now all four seasons are finally available for a whole new generation.
I assume they get things from SW on a "We need this" basis; I doubt Sesame just handed over their entire archive over to them.
At the most recent MOMI event, they had a bunch of Sesame clips of varying quality - some were clearly taken from some of the DVDs while some of the newer stuff in HD...
Keep in mind, this is really a Jim Henson Legacy-run thing, not a Sesame-run thing.
And they've done these types of events before - a few years ago they had a great screening of just random Henson stuff they had recently remastered into HD (and it looked Bee-utiful).

I'm sure there's some report out there from 1969 justifying the episode count, but really, I have no idea why they chose to do 130 episodes a year. I think they should've knocked that down ages ago - more money for better shows (I mean, presumably more money).
Yeah, there's three hours space for 50 years worth of material. Two of the same thing takes away time from other stuff, especially because those segments are longer than others.
They found that out through the Ice Bucket video; they thought my channel was someone on the inside apparently. I met with some folks for a day, got some free swag and that was pretty much the extent of it.
