Yes, I refered to /Anders' guide several times while making my first one.
I still don't get darts though. (Yes, I've tried to use paper. I just don't 'get it'. I'm not very smart,, but it will come to me!)

Re: Foam Rubber
Well, it's in Burbank, CA, but the Foam Mart is awesome! I went in there and they had just about anything you'd want.

I'm SURE there's one closer to you. Do a google search for Foam and your town. That's what I did while in San Francisco after I...
Fur stuff
I think I used a different fur fabric tan "oscar" style for my dog puppet, but I did find a TON of stuff on eBay simply by searching "Fur Fabric". It was all really cheap too! So maybe eBay can be helpful.
Your link to your web page doesn't work. :-(
Rock On!
GRANT
THanks!
Helped perfectly! The fleece is ordered, the foam is set to be carved and I got all next week off! Let's see what I come up with!
ROCK ON!

So I'm going to be ordering some fleece to try using it for the first time. I'm going to make a puppet of my Great Grandmother (she's quite a character)! My question is, how would I dye the fleece to make it skin colored? I know most muppets had different color skins, but what dye (or dye...
Very nice! They look great! I hope m first experiments with Fleece come out as nice as those!
There were no problems with viewing, but I doubt there would be. You're a Mac user. Are there ever problems with Macs? No.
:-)
Rock On!

Hey all!
I'm clearing out the clutter around my tiny one bedroom apartment so I've put a few of the RARE Muppet figs I have duplicates of on eBay. You can see them all at:

(This is the whole address, but the link works! Just...
I'm designing a puppet that may have to have a mouth sort of like Beaker's because it has a cylindrical head. What's the name for that type of mouth and can you give me a rundown of how it works? Thanks!
Grant
Okay, I realize this is a long shot but I'm going to try anyway.
I have an extra VC Beaker and IS Fozzie from Palisades. Is there anyone out there with an extra Wizard World Dr. Teeth wanting to trade?
Let me know.
Thanks,
Grant

Bryan-
You got it. That's it. Personally I did not get the whole 'darts' thing. I did my body for my dog puppet just as a piece of 1" foam in a circle with darts at the top to make the shoulder area. I suppose you could do the same at the bottom to round it off, but I did not.
Anyway...
An easy way to think about it is to think of a map of the whole world. You know thos funky maps that aren't perfectly square? If you were to cut out one of those maps and tape the edges together, it becomes a globe shape. That help at all?
Oh and get the foam book. It's worth the $20...
Warrick-
Your puppets look great! What do you use to cover your more "people like" puppets? Felt or is that Muppet Fleece?
I can't wait to start on my new ones. I have a few ideas, I need to start sketching them out!
Keep up the goos work!
Grant
Go for it!
I'd say go for it! I had a bunch of fun building my puppet and I can't wait to do another one.
A friend of mine who works for Henson said the tricky part about Gonzo is that they get one chance to do the mouth. One swipe with a razor blade and if it's not perfect, they have to...
DONE!
Well, I'm finished and not a moment too soon seeing as Christmas is only a day away and the girlfriend gets in this afternoon! This last picture has no arm rods, but they are added now. I also have dowels on the end of them (which were stained to look nice and I also made a display...
Heh.
Thanks for the compliments Foz! Yes this is the first REAL, trying to be professional, puppet I've built.
A few years ago I built a sVERY simple sock puppet using the Muppets Make Puppets book. I also made a large Practical Hand Puppet with a broom for a head (as is also talked about...
Progress and URL change
Hey all. The URL of pictures has changed. Sorry about that. It's at:
http://homepage.mac.com/toasterboyg4/PhotoAlbum9.html
Got the body done. All that's left is eyes and eyebrows and then the rods for the hands. I'm not 100% happy with the hands, but they'll...
Update...
For any who care....
Work's almost done. Just need to make some tweaks here and there, add eyes, arms and hands but it's close.
I've uploaded all my pictures to one page now which you can visit at:

Tell me what you...
Update....not that it matters.
Got a lot of work done this aftrnoon. I did go pick up the felt circles and Lo And Behold...they make them in black! So SCORE!
The head is done for the most part, just need to do some touch up work and attatch the neck. I have the hands finished (I may redo...
The Fur
Thanks for the further eye tips!
The Fur...now there's a story.
The dog I'm patternining this after is a Pomeranian (I know, it's gone horribly wrong and no longer looks like a pomeranion, but that was my starting point). I knew I was fgoing to have to use long fur for it. Well...
