It's funny that this topic came up. I do not pretend to know much, but I did this for the first time today and am extremely happy with the results. I first cut the lips out of 1" foam then I carefully shaped them using a belt sander (use caution with power tools, fingers do not grow back)...

I have a problem with my fabric “puckering” when I roll it over onto the mouth plate. I cut the fabric on a straight line approximately ½ inch past the mouth opening. Any suggestions? Ben
