I will say this in support of the ceramony last night. There were a few commercials I saw that made me laugh harder then I have in a long long time. Much better then the "Stupidbowl".

Presenters were told they couldn't, but they did anyway. Winners were told they could say anything they wanted, as they had earned that time.

I agree. I felt that many of the presenters and winners went a little far in trying to "make a stand".

He did get a standing ovation when his name was called. Regardless of his remarks, Hollywood fell in love with his film. Regardless of what "side" you are one, his movies always make you think.

Actually, the songs in Chicago were ineligible, as they were written prior to the film for another project (the stage play). Kander and Ebb wrote a new song for the film though, just for the purpose of giving them a shot at an Oscar, but it was not to be.

But it was Julie Taymore. I think her name was the only reason why it was nominated.
