I've posted this in a few other places online, but I'm in the final stages of relaunching PuppetBuilding.com. I've been rebuilding the site from scratch and it will be back online if not tonight, then sometime tomorrow (I'll post a separate thread when it's back up and running).
I'm looking to...
I'm in the final stages of preparing to re-launch PuppetBuilding.com. One of the features I'm looking in to adding on some pages are really nicely formatted and attractive listings of puppets for sale on ebay and etsy. There are lots of ways to do this easily with ebay, but when it comes to Etsy...
I don't know if anyone else on the forum has reported this already, but Beaker's Ode To Joy video on YouTube has been nominated for a Webby for best music video!
You can vote for it and in other categories online at pv.webbyawards.com.
Last year the Webbys say one award was decided by a...
I'm not sure if this has already been posted here or not, but The Visual Effects Society and SIGGRAPH are hosting an event at the Creature Shop in L.A. next week (Tuesday night) that includes a guided tour of the Creature Shop as well as presentation and demo of the Henson Digital Performance...
I think StaceyRebecca raised this issue already, but there is a new law coming in to effect Feb. 10 to make it mandatory for all toys and children's clothing for lead and (basically phthalic acid that's added to plastic).
All toys - including handmade puppets - have to be tested by...
I think that one of the most amazing things about being a member of this forum for years now is seeing just how many cool projects members have done and are working on. It's amazing to think that most of what's shared here (patterns, resources, web sites, videos, etc.) just didn't exist until a...
I know we're a couple days in to the New Year, but over the past week or so I've been doing a "Best of 2008" recap on PuppetVision. The list is by no means complete - I know there is tons of good stuff I've missed - but I wanted to share - http://www.puppetvision.info/search/label/Best%20of%202008
Is anybody else familiar with the PG Tips Monkey from England?
I hadn't heard of it/him until about a month ago, but have really gotten hooked on him since then.
Here's a couple of posts about him from PuppetVision (with links to videos and more info) if you don't know what I'm referring...
A couple days ago I published a "Christmas Puppet Shopping Guide" on PuppetVision. Check it out!
I am pretty sure that all of the companies/builders sell puppets in the $10-30 range (and they're pretty good too!) so they make good Christmas presents and they are still taking orders for the...
Hi all,
I wanted to drop by just to let people know that my PuppetVision Blog has moved to a new URL - www.puppetvision.info.
For now typing in the old blogspot address will just redirect you to the new one, but eventually I'll be moving PuppetVision off Blogger and hosting it myself so...
I read a great quote today from Alan Cook, who runs the Int'l Puppet Museum in California and has got to be one of the most knowledgeable puppeteers I have ever met:
"...one phrase Betsy used frequently in her puppet courses, was "anyone can be a puppeteer". My brain would say to itself...
The Christian Science Monitor is looking to interview adults in Europe or North America who collect toys for an upcoming article and I thought that someone here who collects Muppet figures or merchandise might be interested in being interviewed.
Here is what she is writing about:
"While toy...
For anyone in & around NYC and NJ who is looking for puppet building work, Puppet Heap is hiring. This is from the PofA Bulletin Board:
Puppet Heap is looking for costumers, stitchers and drapers for immediate hire. The rate is based on experience and the gig will be for one to two weeks. If...
The subject of how to build a Sesame Street "Yip Yip" Martian comes up a lot here so I thought everybody might enjoy a tutorial explaining how to make a Sesame Street Martian costume (not written by me, I just found it on BoingBoing).
I just spotted these today and thought they were cool (sorry if they've already been posted here)...pictures of Swazzle's new stage that Sean mentioned on here awhile back I believe.
Has anybody seen the new Björk music video Wanderlust? It just debuted on Yahoo yesterday and is really cool blend of live action, puppets and animation. I've got both the video and a "making-of" embedded on this page.
Hey guys,
I don't know if anyone has heard of a band called The Myriad, but they just released a video called "A Clean Shot" that was partially inspired by The Dark Crystal. The video features a couple of neat looking puppets & I have pics as well as links to the video and behind the scenes...
"Prehistoric puppets" are a line of realistic dinosaur puppets created by a Hollywood FX artist that look very cool. They are not shipping to stores until June, but were recently unveiled at Toy Fair in New York and I've collected a bunch of links and pics with more info at...
I don't think anyone has mentioned this here yet, but there's a good tutorial on making posable hands and arm rods at the Project Puppet Blog right now. There's three parts up so far:
Introduction
Patterns
Materials
Looks pretty good so far; have a look.
