The Charlie Brown and Snoopy Thread!

I've never owned the book, but I've read parts of it in the store, mainly the part about how the special came to be. It seems Schultz and the producers did a bit of brainstorming before deciding to do a Halloween story.

The Charlie Brown and Snoopy Thread!

I've read that Charles Schultz didn't have full controll over what happens in the TV specials (even though he's the only credited writer), which explains things like the Little Red-Haired Girl being seen in a few specials, and it sort of makes me wonder who normally did the pitching for the...

    Muppet Puppets at FAO

I'll have to reread the Tough Pigs coverage of that Toy Fair, but I'm pretty sure that Disney didn't allow photos to be taken of any of the Muppet merchandise at that Toy Fair.

    Muppet Puppets at FAO

The small assortment of characters sort of reminds me of a typical Palisades Toys series, only all the characters are "big guns". As much as I'm hoping they eventually make Walter and Uncle Deadley, it won't surprise me if they eventually release Miss Piggy, Gonzo, and maybe Rowlf, Scooter...

Your Thoughts: Sesame Street Season 42

I was saying that they recently put more episodes into each season (or maybe it was just last season), but for the first time in years are recycling street scenes from past seasons. I guess it's a budget thing. I wonder whose idea (Sesame Workshop or PBS) it was to increase the number of...

Your Thoughts: Sesame Street Season 42

It's ironic that starting last season they began doing 44-episode seasons and perhaps as a result went back to repeating street stories from past seasons. It seems like they're only repeating street stories shot in HD, yet there aren't really that many HD episodes yet.

    Muppet Puppets at FAO

I take it these aren't the plush shown at Toy Fair 2009, which supposedly looked like the puppets and were on hold until the movie. I wonder how long until those get announced (assuming their release hasn't been canceled). So far, these seem to be the most decent non-book tie-ins for the...

Your Thoughts: Sesame Street Season 42

Today's episode involves Elmo and Telly as "The Cowboy Pair" (this sounds like a past episode I haven't seen, probably a repeat but I'm not sure. I've walked in and out of the room at times, so I may have missed some segments (I don't remember seeing any segments for today's letter, E), but...

    Sesamestreet.org relaunches for Season 39

It's "Fall Day" with Zoe. I feel "Fall Day" would be more appropriate if hosted by the baker...

    Jim Henson's Red Book

Here's one about the 1984 video compilations and the Play-Along Video series. http://www.henson.com/jimsredbook/2011/10/01/101-21984/

    Play-Along Video Promo

I found a promo for the Play-Along Video series at Daily Motion: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xjwmi5_jim-henson-s-play-along-video_shortfilms It's an interesting promo. Kermit hosts the promo, presenting clips from five of the six videos (Wow You're a Cartoonist is absent for some reason)...

    Eric Jacobson interview

Wow. I didn't know Eric Jacobson is married to a member of the crew. Otherwise, I don't think I learned anything new (that matters) from that interview.

    The Muppet Show...Continued?

Except for during the first season. And in The Great Muppet Caper. A funny way to incorporate Walter into a new Muppet TV series would be to have him approve of all major differences between a new show and The Muppet Show. Not sure if the running gag would get old fast or not, but it'd...

Family Reunion Magazine Reprint is out

Given the timing, it's a wonder they didn't release Muppet Mash, since it's october. Then again, Family Reunion is one of the best storyarcs (along with the first four issues and On the Road), so maybe they wanted to get the next best one rereleased.

Family Reunion Magazine Reprint is out

It's a shame they didn't skip to The Four Seasons (I wonder if they will in december... Are these reprints meant to come out every three months or four?). Then again, has it been reported that Roger Langridge completed The Four Seasons?

Official Movie Soundtrack coming November 21

It's been said there'll be a song called Everything's Great. Either that was wrong, or the title was wrong, or it's just not listed.

    Facts That Don't Add Up

Yesterday I brought up how Fran Brill was hired, and today Jim Henson's red book notes her being hired for Sesame Street, with an article written by Fran Brill herself: http://www.henson.com/jimsredbook/2011/09/27/9-1970/

How often are the Muppets replaced?

According to Sesame Street Unpaved, most Muppets are replaced every five years, but Cookie Monster, Bert, Ernie, Grover, and Kermit are replaced every 10-12 years. Though it seems there are multiple puppets in use for the same characters those times. Obviously most of the season one Sesame...

    Your Muppet mistakes

Today I remembered a mistake I had forgotten about. But I used to think Camilla made a cameo in the movie Hot Shots Part Deux. I saw a commercial for it which included the scene where the main character used a chicken as an arrow, which to me looked like a Muppet chicken (I watched the clip...

    Facts That Don't Add Up

It's widely sourced that Fran Brill auditioned for the Muppets thinking she could just do voices, before Jim Henson informed her that the performers do the voices, which she did. But during the early years it was common for characters to be performed by non-performers, from having the human cast...
