This reminds me of the time before the movie came out when I started a thread desiring a special "bonus disc" of classic Muppet content. I did think such a disc would need to include a few bonus episodes of The Muppet Show, but this isn't what I had in mind (what I had in mind was 2-3 episodes...
Dang it! The preview and Muppet Weird Stuff have both been removed by the user, and those weren't online too long. I wonder why he removed them (I recall The Kermit and Piggy Story also being online for just a short period of time). I'm glad I watched them so many times during the short time...
Long ago I saw the song Pop sang on YouTube (I think it's called "It's Your Cartoon So Anything Goes"). Not sure if it's still there.
One thing I'd like to see again is the sequence teaching stick figures. I think I've read that a Muppet character taught that, but I don't remember any Muppets...
Though it seems many parents have complained about certain things in kids programming over the years, though.
I watched the original Lorax TV special on ABC Family last december, and one thing I sort of noticed. It's in one song sung a few times, "For he's a jolly good onceler, aren't we all?"...
This is sad news. Seems he had the best voice of all the Monkees. "Daydream Believer" is one of my favorite songs from the group.
I saw the Monkees in concert in 1997, shortly after I had started seeing the show.
Something I suddenly thought about: All the Dr. Seuss animated TV specials were great, and with the exception of Daisy-Head Maisie, all of them had Dr. Seuss's involvement. Makes me wonder if any of these Dr. Seuss movies would have been a lot better if Seuss was alive and able to work on them.
Actually, those two, like Ernest, got their start in commercials produced by the same people who made the Ernest commercials. And it seems like information is hard to find... Last I checked (which would have been a year or two ago) wikipedia didn't have any pages on the characters, and none of...
Yeah, I've noticed that since the last Austin Powers, Mike Myers hasn't done much besides Shrek. I wonder if he's semi-retired or having trouble finding work or what. Makes me wonder how a fourth Austin Powers movie would do at this point... I was a really big fan when the movies were current...
Wait, the Grinch was in the original "Horton Hears a Who" special? I don't remember that. Though it is ironic... Both stories involve whoville, the original specials were both produced by MGM (where most of the others were produced by DePatie-Freling and a few by Turner) and directed by Chuck...
I enjoyed a lot of the non-Muppet stuff, like the "Wizard of Oz test audience" bit and the part where somebody (was it Billy Crystal or someone else?) guesed what people in the audience were thinking based on their facial expressions (too bad Kermit and Piggy weren't included there... Though it...
I didn't watch all of it, but I caught Kermit and Miss Piggy's scene and stopped watching after Man or Muppet won. It's a shame Kermit and Miss Piggy didn't do anything during the acceptance speech.
And is it me or did it seem it took the slowest amount of time to announce the best song...
Emmet Otter wasn't a "picture book special" (it also wasn't a "Tales from Muppetland", despite being released on laserdisc as such). Jim Henson came up with the picture book specials idea in 1986, and only two were made. In fact I think the "Picture Book Specials" term may have been dropped by...
I can't exactly remember if her name was Gertie or Gerta. I can't quite determine if she's a female version of Chuck (though she's clearly smarter... and perhaps crazier), but it is the same Bobby. In that movie the two are science teachers who also act as mad scientists, inventing a machine...
I agree that that's a good song. Too bad Ernest didn't sing in the others. Though it's interesting that the one big song Ernest got to sing was a serious song as opposed to something silly. But then again, I don't really consider that a musical number... Ernest pretty much just sings to himself...
Here's the latest entry, which concerns Gordon http://www.sesameworkshop.org/our-blog/2012/02/24/this-week-in-sesame-street-gordon-and-african-american-fatherhood/
It even includes a fact that I had never known before: Gordon was named after somebody named Gordon Parks.
I'm watching the video right now, and one thing I noticed that seems odd: At the very beginning, when Gonzo introduces The Three Little Pigs, Rizzo seems to make a reaction, but shortly afterward when Gonzo starts narrarating, Rizzo says "Oh, you mean the three little pigs..." So did Rizzo...
I just watched Ernest Goes to Camp for the first time in years, and while it is still a good movie, I feel I want the Nostalgia Critic to review this. There's a LOT of stuff I could see the NC pick apart.
Still, I'll post some of my thoughts and observations:
Councilor Stinnis initially gets...
One thing that I hope gets included on the DVD and other releases: An official promo for season 4 of The Muppet Show. Because then that would mean it would definately be coming. Yeah, it's wishful thinking, but it'd be great if it did happen.
