All three Seasons of The Animal Show were filmed in England. That's why apart from Dave Goelz and Steve Whitmire, they generally used their British puppeteers (such as: Louise Gold, Catherine Smee, and, Mike Quinn) on it. It would have made it easier not having to deal with work permits etc.
If Maxine The Indian Elephant was in the sketch with Dave The Human Being (who incidentally while performed by Bill Barretta, is supposed to be based-on Dave Goelz), then Maxine was performed and voiced by Katherine Smee.
Hmmm, good question.
One way of defining them might be to consider which ones were operated by the puppeteers themselves, and which ones were costumes worn by hired in dancers?
That would mean that Snuffy, Beautiful Day Monster, Doglion, and, Thog, and, Big Mama all count as Puppets. But...
Bunnie Bear. - Louise Gold (Season II)
Jake the Polar Bear. - Steve Whitmire (Seasons I, II & III)
Maxine the Elephant. - probably Catherine Smee (she certainly performed an Elephant guest in the same episode as Dave the Human Being in Season III)
Rhonda the Rat Reporter. - Louise Gold...
That is not a London Cast Recording. It's a Studio Cast Album (ie one where the cast was assembled just for the recording).
I think perhaps you need to aquaint yourself with Louise Gold's recordings. You might like to check out the following URL...
That's not true. TMS had several other 'Full Body' Muppet monsters, what are: Thog, Beautiful Day Monster, Doglion, and of course the irrespressible Big Mama (who incidentally also popped up in an episode of The Ghost Of Faffner Hall)
Well actually that's one of the few occassions on TMS (or indeed anywhere in her Muppet work) where Louise Gold might actually be using something approaching her normal voice!. Still she does have rather amazing vocal abilities (amongst her various vocal talents, she does a mindblowing Ethel...
I think my choice really has to be 'I Could Have Counted All Night' (which is on the album 'The Count's Countdown'). - if only because Louise Gold singing the part of The Countess does such an unbelievably unrecognisable accent. It's one of those occassions where if you didn't know it was her...
Renata Scottie Dog - The Loudest Singer In The World (Sesame Street character from the early 1990's, her muppeteer must surely be one of the loudest singers in the business)
Well I can think of two or three I'd nominate (one of which I haven't even seen), I'm not sure if they could exactly be called "classic" since they date to the early 1990's, but I think they stand out:
1) I Get A Kick Out Of U sung by Ethel Mermaid - I nominate this because its so difficult...
