Louise Gold was the first British puppeteer to work for Hensons, and indeed the only British puppeteer on TMS, where her best known character was Annie Sue Pig. She went on to help set up the British TV puppet series Spitting Image (and was that programme's original Leading Puppeteer).
In...
I've tried watching this film, especially that scene, several times on both Video and DVD, and and so far I've never managed to work out which one of them is her (and being a rather a fan, I like to think I'm usually pretty good at spotting Louise Gold on screen).
One of the nice things about...
True, but I think that was mainly in the Vets Hospital skits wasn't it? She was also Jim's assistant puppeteer on TMS for a few other two-man live hands puppets, notably the Newsreader, and Link Hogthrob - there's a couple of descriptions in the book OM&M, for a start.
My favourite include:
I Get A Kick Out Of U
I Can Sing Anything When I Sing With You
We Got Us
Blue SKies (TMS Praire Dogs)
It Feels Like Christmas
Rainbow Connection
I Gotta Catch Me Some Blues
As My Guitar Gently Weeps
Swanne (TMS Penguins)
The Rhyming Song
I Am Chicken
Rio (TMS...
Well I'd probably say Raisin from The Secret Life Of Toys is my favourite. She's so friendly and versatile. But if we're talking more mainstream Muppet characters then I just have to say that sweet young takented Annie Sue Pig gets my vote. Because: 1. She's very talented, 2. She's likeable...
All at the same Theatre.
Ah well, that's The Palladium. At least this time she's actually in a successful show. Unlike the previous time when she acted in a West End musical at The Palladium. Sixteen years ago she was a mega-flop of a musical at that theatre (a show called Ziegfeld)...
I noticed a little muppet coincidence the other day. Tomorrow (Sunday 21 November) it is exactly 27 years since The Muppets first did a Royal Variety Performance (ok the Royal Variety in quesiton was actually on a Monday, but it was the 21 November). That year's Royal Variety took place at The...
er hm,
Annie Sue wasn't in TMS Season 1. The puppet appeared towards the end of Season II (it looks like they were trying her out), but wasn't properly introduced until the start of Season III.
I'd certainly agree that one of Louise Gold's characters should be represented, and Annie Sue is...
MuppetDude's description is pretty full. Though I think it was actually a Nestrapolitan Opera sequence. The song (with rewritten lyrics) was of course The Habenara from the opera Carmen (hence the name Charmin').
Incidentally, the skit must have been filmed in the early 1990's (cause Louise...
Muppetsdownunder,
I'm glad to hear you enjoyed seeing Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, with Louise Gold as the Baroness.
I believe the London Palladium like many ALW theatre's isn't too well looked after. Some months ago, actress Nicola McAuliffe wrote an article in the newspapers about the poor...
Jim Henson lived at: 50 Downshire Hill, in Hampstead, during the early 1880's (i.e. the making of Dark Crystal and Labyrinth). The original Creature Shop was at one end of Downshire Hill (I think no 1 or 2).
Hope that helps
Emma...
Well I'd very much doubt it, while she did do a Mike Leigh film, Topsy Turvy, I don't know that she'd really be counted as one of his "Group". And anyway, surely she'd be too busy with CCBB to be on a current Mike Leigh film?
Of course that's just a guess.
A little pig with frizzy ginger/blond hair who appeared on TMS, she was Miss Piggy's sweet young talented admirer and rival. She was specially designed for Louise Gold (then the newest puppeteer in the Muppets' troupe), and in many ways she's kind of similar to her puppeteer. She is Louise's...
There's never really been anyone who could quite fill Annie Sue's shoes, though I darsay Spamela Hamderson did her best. But Annie Sue was something all her own.
Sometimes when I've come across "actress" type characters in other things (such as stage plays), I've found myself wondering...
To speculate on the thread topic, my theory is that she became one of those theatre performers who always got good parts in the provinces, but never quite became a star. People noticed her performances, but never quite enough (perhaps she was too nice). Incidentally, could I just point out, that...
Hey, don't leave out Louise Gold. Her best known character of course is Annie Sue Pig, I guess that's the one we should call her signiture character. But if we going to choose two signiture characters then I'm not sure whether to pick: Raisin (from SLOT 0 she's very versatile), Big Mama (from...
Well some of my favourites include:
Jim Henson:
Rainbow Connection, It's Not Easy Bein' Green, Stepping Out With A Star
Frank Oz:
Mad About The Frog
Richard Hunt:
The Telephone Of Seville
Jerry Nelson:
As My Guitar Gentley Weeps, Bless Us All, Halfway Down The Stairs, Happiness...
Well I can think of one singer I've heard a lot in London's West End who frequently has a tendency to sound just exactly like various Muppet characters, but in her case it's absolutely not surprising, because she is one of them anyway.
When I saw:
110 In The Shade, I thought that the...
