I see your point and I am not disagreeing with you completely, but I will point out that Steve has done very well with Kermit in the last three major Muppet films (A Muppet Christmas Carol, Muppet Treasure Island, Muppets From Space). It seems it's just interviews where he acts a little "strange".

JoJo's Circus is actually a very well-done and popular children's show on the Disney Channel as part of the Playhouse Disney lineup. So it makes perfect sense that there would be a JoJo balloon.
Cookie, there absolutely MUST be real human characters in the film. That's one of the main things that makes "outer space" worth exploring. I mean, we're the "silly creatures" right?
That's exactly what I was thinking, Ed. Have Doc appear in the beginning and end, sort of bookending everything, if not in more of the film. I don't think I want Doc in it unless Gerry Parks plays the part. He cannot be replaced. If he is unable to physically appear, some kind of reference...
