I believe Sesame Workshop's acuisition of the Sesame Street characters includes the major(Big Bird, Elmo, Oscar, etc.), the obscure ones(Guy Smiley, Barkley the Dog, Forgetful Jones, among others), and even the characters from the international co-productions of Sesame Street.
Hope this helps.
Let's see, there's been:
*Sam(Sam and Friends)
*Sam the Robot(Sesame Street)
*Sam the Eagle(The Muppet Show)
*Pierre(the French Rat)
*Pierre(the chef from the Vincent Price episode of The Muppet Show)
*Pierre(the blue frog from the Japanese version of Sesame Street)

Hmmm...wonder which country will be next to get their own version of SS?
Maybe Singapore? or Thailand? How about Malaysia?
I do know that there is going to be one in India.
Here are my ideas:
*I Will Survive-by a lobster that's about to get eaten
Oppurtunity Knox
(here's the lyrics):

...the song should be sung by a guest star on TMS(anyone) and a character in a box with just the legs, arms and feet...
There will be a tv special focusing on the duo travelling around the world. Expect it to air later this year.
Sesame Workshop is producing the special with National Geographic.
Sweet! I've seen the CGI-animated music video for their song "Points of Authority", and that video reminded me of something The Jim Henson Company would make(using Creature Shop effects of course). Most of the songs on the "Reanimation" CD to me would fit perfectly for some Henson fantasy...
Here's a list of celebrities I can imagine appearing on the show someday....
*Green Day
*Simon Cowell(maybe he could appear in a sketch with Oscar :grouchy: )
*Donald Trump(appearing in a spoof of "The Apprentice")
*Fred Durst(he could sing a parody of one of his songs with Cookie...
If they were making a sequel to Labyrinth, that would be totally awesome.
Maybe Linkin Park can do the songs for the second movie like David Bowie did in the first. ;) :)
