OMG - that's exactly what I'm doing! With a variation of course. My vinyl tubing is set in between 2 pieces of 'stiff felt' about the size of the palm so when the rod is inserted, it moves the whole hand. It's sandwiched in the felt and I first used hot glue but the tubing stripped free so, I...
When something progresses my puppet build, I'm ecstatic to pass along the tip. In my latest blog update [Jan. 19, 2009], I talk about two of these simple 'perfect' fixes [magnets and hairclips]. See link in my sig.
I know there are a lot of tutorials and tips out there but, I'm curious to hear...
Your descriptions are great. Great sense of humor. The puppets are adorable. I love their simplicity. Love candy is a fave and Victor the dog... is that eco felt normally that 'ratty'? - I LOVE the way it looks.
Andrew - I hope you didn't misread my post. I'm all for putting in long hours for your craft. I agree, it is the best way to succeed. If anything, I have been consistent with working in the performing arts since I was 12. I'm sure you'd agree that anyone can benefit from a workshop/ class/ or...
Stacey - Thanks for your rambling. It hit a nerve for me and I almost wonder if this should be a separate thread. At 39, I'm far from college age or able to afford the time or money for long-term higher learning but, I am eager and able to tackle what inspires me creatively. I, too, wish that...
Puppet fix and New Puppet
Thanks all for your input. On the puppet in question, I cut out a new mouth plate and glued it over the offending stitches. After adding a final tongue, I think the puppet - Gustavo - looks great.

I'm so excited for you! I wish there was a puppetry club when I was in school [many moons ago]. I've come up against casting directors playing favorites in the past too and I think playing to your strengths and expressing your true passion [puppetry] will get you further and be much more...
As strictly a work of INCREDIBLE art - the villian is worth the money. I wish I could justify spending that much. Jarrod - your work is amazing as usual. Thanks for always inspiring.
Can someone please confirm this? I know that the London Q is closing in March but have heard no immediate plans for the NY Broadway show. Reservations are still being taken through August 2009. I can't find any other information to support that the Broadway show is closing any time soon.
I never got a confirmation email. I kept checking my bank statement and the charge finally appeared a few days later and then the ticket followed in the mail shortly after. I would think it's more likely that you would get an email quicker if they couldn't fill the order.
