I feel exactly the same way. While I'm hoping the movie will be a huge success, the main reason I'm anticipating the film is that it will hopefully lead to (and/or support) the release of the remaining three seasons on DVD.
A bit off topic here, but has anyone else had problems with the audio on Season 2? I get a "click" or "pop" coming from the speakers every now and then (on nearly every episode) and it doesn't seem to be an issue with the source material. Rather it seems like an issue with the processing of...
Hi Gelfling,
Could you please post the text of the article here? Not everyone will be able to access NYTimes.com, as you need a login ID and password.
Thanks!
Really? That's odd.
It is a real shame Fraggle was shot on videotape - the imperfections on the DVDs are indeed very noticable. Unfortunately, there isn't much else you can do to tape but digitalize it.
Fraggle Rock may be more than 20 years old but you need to remember it was shot on videotape, like almost all other TV shows of its day.
The quality of videotape doesn't hold a candle to the quality of film, whose remastering for DVD is often great, often questionable. The Fraggle episodes...
UNIMA's Puppetry International Fall/Winter 2006 issue discusses scripts in puppetry, and a short transcript of Fraggle episode #96 "Change of Address" is featured.
This single issue should be available in Barnes and Noble or Borders for about $5.95. If you are interested in subscribing to...
I know this news is a bit outdated, but HIT's online store has a page for Fraggle DVDs. They list Season Two here:
http://www.hitshopusa.com/item/k/H101031
The page contains a trailer (which I can't get to work), and also has a mysterious marker saying "Limited Quantities."
I wonder if...
The Count is correct. As it's been understood, the original deal between HBO and Henson called for five seasons to air. There were, however, only four seasons produced. Therefore the final production season of 26 shows was split to air as 13 and 13.
So the most likely scenario for the DVDs...
Very true. There has been so little press for this (compared to Season 1) that I would think "in-store" sales must count at least as much as online sales. Many people (especially casual buyers) will discover this for the first time on a store shelf.
BTW, for those who may be having trouble...
I've been watching quite a bit, and I think HIT has done another great job with this set. It's wonderful!
Just like last fall, I think it might be a really nice gesture to send a short note to HIT thanking them for the great Season 2 set, for continuing Fraggle seasons on DVD and to let them...
The salesperson I spoke to at Best Buy said they had none in stock and none in transit. He said you could order it on their website, however.
So my guess is that no Best Buy location anywhere will have the sets, which is really unfortunate since a lot of people buy their DVDs there.
You should be able to find it in any Best Buy, Target, Wal-Mart, etc.
I'm wondering why there seems to be no advertising too. No tv commercials, magazine or newspaper ads, nothing. Unless you search for it on the internet, I'm not sure you could even know it's coming...
Wow, those bonuses seems pretty Traveling Matt-heavy!
Are the original opening and closing credits still intact like the first set? How about any inserts or paperwork (other than the pitch book)?
Thanks!
