Yeah, I believe residuals are what actors and performers are paid whenever a show they starred on is shown in reruns, whereas royalties are fees you have to pay copyright holders for use of their work on the show, especially when it's released on DVD and thus a commercial product.

I know that, but what exactly does that have to do with residuals? Maybe I'm wrong, but aren't residuals money the actors/performers receive for everytime their show is aired in reruns? I'm not sure if they did that at the time, and on a kiddy show that went first-run syndication.
I'm pretty sure Roosevelt participated in an opening sequence where various different residents on the street, humans, kids, and Muppets did the alphabet, one at a time (him doing R for Roosevelt, of course).
I just learned on their Facebook page that they had finished preserving 20 episodes of the show, and that they're planning on another fundraiser to see if they can preserve even more episodes.
Considering it takes time to produce and animate the episodes, it's possible they picked up on the references during the writing process, but said references were passe by the time they're completed and aired. I mean, the Love Ducks episode was what... two years after Teletubbies came to...

But you see my point don't you? Back in the day, social media was "evil", and you needed to avoid sites like MySpace, but nowadays, social media is a "necessity" and you have to have Facebook to prove you exist. :p
