Good point. I used that pattern for my first puppet (still not quite finished) and the head is quite soft so foam would pad it out nicely. I do kinda like the unpadded look tho, kinda like Kermit looks on The Muppet Show.
I think the starting price reflects the fact that this isn't your standard home made looking professional puppet. This raccoon is television production quality. I imagine, if it sells, it will be to a different type of buyer than most other puppets sell to.
Ah, cool. Thanks for that! Foam head puppets are gonna be quite a while away for me yet as I'm only just learning. I need to master the "sock" puppet first I think. :)
It kinda reminds me of recording artists like Prince or Michael Jackson. In their heyday they were at the top of their game and had millions of fans buying their records and paying to see them on stage. As time goes on these artists have to either continue to release the same kind of material...
From official sources, Oz has distanced himself from the Muppets to concentrate on directing. He has been doing that since the 80s for non-Muppet or Henson related movies. I am guessing that Henson's death gave Frank the excuse to slowly move away from just being a "hand in a sock" and a voice...
I'm just starting to get into puppet building, for my own enjoyment primarily but maybe to sell later on if I get any better at making them.
The basic sock puppet, like Kermit, is pretty easy to construct (or at least seems to be from my first attempt) but I would definitely like to try...

Funny but he is smaller than I imagined. Not height but his head is about the same size as Kermit's and I imagied it would be bigger.
Hardly notice the nose problem but the eyes are, only slightly in my estimation but, definitely off.
The quality of the materials used are...
You would be better off trying to get a copy of the video from eBay. They are available pretty regularly in UK PAL format and I can only guess the US NTSC will be quite easy to find too. The video I have is from the early 80s (I've had it years) but the quality is still great.
It comes down to the same problem with Muppet Babies. Will copyright be a problem? Most episodes were full of movie and TV clips from a wide range of production companies.
I was always convinced that the Aardvark was voiced by Jackie Mason. I only found out in recent years that it was a (rather impressive) impersonation. Apparently, Byner used a Jackie Mason impression for the Aardvark and a Dean Martin impression to the Ant.
According to Jim (and Brian Henson also explained almost word for word) they were being pulled along by a group of tricycles that a quite a bit further down the road from the Muppet characters. I know that Kermit in The Muppet Movie was held up by strings like a marionette so there was probably...
