I never realized this before......
When Disney bought the muppets, it never occured to me that SW would be loosing some of their key employees (like Steve Whitmire). If Steve went with Disney in order to do Kermit, does anyone know what (if any) other key roll players SW may have lost with this...
They do have the rights to the clips, though.
When Jim Henson passed away and Kermit was removed from SS, SW lost the rights to make any new inserts showing the frog. However, they did gain access to, and STILL have the rights to show any footage that was shot before that which included...
We could realy use some help here!
We have a few fellow members out here who would realy like to obtain the original words and, if possible, the actual video clip of this Roosevelt Franklin skit. I, personally, do not recall ever seeing this, so any help from some of the more seasoned pros out...
What is the actual reason that they are doing this!
I revived this thread because this subject has been on alot of peoples minds lately. My question is this: are they truely doing this to save the old vintage clips from destruction, or is there an alterior motive to all this? And how far did...
I totally agree!
My thoughts exactly. I just wish the head people at SW would get their heads out of their pompous you-know-whats and be willing to admitt it. They may have done a great job creating "new" characters for todays SS, but you can't just go and give all the old characters the ax...
I appreciate the "well said" but........
I appreciate your opening statement, that being "well said". But other than that, I'm afraid I don't see where any of these other subjects are being addresed here. I willingly aknowledge your opinions and points of view, but I think we realy need to...
I've said it before, and I'll say it again............
The fact that SW has all those vintage Kermit clips at their finger tips, and yet is showing no plans whatsoever for them (other than letting them deteriorate on the shelf) makes me sick to my stomach. But, looking at it from SW's...
Thats the kind of message I got, also.
That's basically the way I interperated it, too. I just wasn't sure if they were only refering to their cruises, or to their resorts as well. Man, can you imagine what kind of publicity this is going to bring! I think we may have just discovered SW's...
Rosa Parks: a very brave woman!
It took alot of guts to do what Rosa parks did on that bus so long (or mabey not so long) ago. Being in the position she was in at the time, and knowing the concequences it could bring, it had to take an awfull lot of courage and conviction to stand up (or, in...
I think I just caught a glimps of Sesame Street's newest source of advertisement. For a long time now, "Beaches" resorts has been a sponsor for SS, and, in return, has been getting their business recognized at the beginning of each SS episode. Well, now they (Beaches) are going one step further...
I still see a pattern here........
I still think if Jim were alive today that most of these crazy changes would never have gotten as out of hand as they have become. Just my opinion.
Thanks for the reminder
I, myself, have probably been "flashed" at least once because I just couldn't remember what those things were called! (Thank goodness for long-term memory when it comes to SS!):D
I don't see "Elmo's World" leaving SS any time soon.
"Elmo's World" was the brain child of todays SS researchers. They came up with this hypothesis that "kids who are watching SS TODAY are much younger than they used to be, and therefor have shorter attention spans." They planted this little...
Episode 1
Back when the very first episodes were aired, Big Bird (along with many other muppets) was still "evolving". When he was first shown, he basically had almost no feathers above the leavel of his eyes. To my daughter those feathers today are his "head". When she first saw episode 1...
Indeed, I am!
I'm a parent of a 3.5 year old, and a 1.5 year old. And all 3 of us are avid SS fans! And I do find it interesting that, since I have started showing them the old re-runs I have been able to obtain, they have stopped asking for Elmo so much and have been asking for characters...
Thanks a bunch!
Fuzzy and Ziffel, your awsome! Thanks for spending so much time on this. You have both been a great help! Sincerely, your friend, Rose:)
Here you go!
Here are the lyrics. Don't know much on dates, though.
Doing the Batty Bat!
"In Old Transylvania, when I was a lad
our castles were cold, yet never were sad.
We learned to be happy, we danced 'round the hall!
And learning to count was the key to it all!
By counting each...
