Nice comparison of The Smurfs to Asterix- the Smurfs definitely have some similarities with Uderzo's great line of comics.
Brainy is essentially the Cacophonix of the Smurfs world.:D
Interesting to read that deleted scene between Ferris and Jeannie- and yeah, it does kinda sound like an episode of "Growing Pains"- lol. (which is fitting since Mike and Carol definitely fit the model of Ferris and Jeannie- but the TV show started in 1985- I wonder if John Hughes got some...
Okay- I will have to keep an eye out for the FaceBook page- I might "like" that.:)
Haha- true, true. I learned a few things from my older brother in any case- lol.
I can't remember if I've said this here or somewhere else, but so does God.;)
Interesting assessment of Revelation, but I can't say I agree. All of The Bible is the Word of God and this is God's revelation of the end of things on Earth and the eternal destiny for all, whether in Heaven or the...
Oops- can't believe I forgot one of The Muppet Show characters to be on Sesame Street- Rowlf!:sympathy:
Rowlf has made much more of a cameo with his "Song of 9" appearance and appearance in the pitch tape for Sesame Street- more so than Dr. Teeth or Miss Piggy. Dr. Teeth had his picture show up...
Just wanted to quickly say thanks to dwmckim for addressing the Herry Monster's striped pants issue- I always laugh at that whenever I run across another such illustration in a Sesame Street book- I would wonder if it's supposedly an issue with promoting nudism or something crazy like that- but...
I wanted the toy! Never got it, but I did play with the Teddy Ruxpin and Grubby toys my cousin had.:)
And yes- I prettty faithfully watched The Adventures of Teddy Ruxpin cartoon growing up. (It's the reason I never learned tae kwan do- lessons were held at the same time as Teddy Ruxpin- lol):D
Yeah- I would agree with that one too. And just to segue for a second, what is the deal with Herry Monster in these red striped pants in almost every book appearance I see him in? Did he ever wear such pants on Sesame Street?
Oh yeah- and beyond Granny Fanny Nesselrode, I'd also like to...
Okay- I can understand your point. There are a lot of stereotypical images that immediately come to mind for some folks on a lot of things unfortunately. I don't like stereotypes- I know that on some level somewhere, some of them are true in some cases (otherwise the stereotype wouldn't exist)...
(*strolling up and interrupting Gonzo softly singing*)
I can't believe I missed the last two pages of random Muppet sing-alongs! Wow- that was great! I love all the great Muppet music.:)
Oh, Gonzo- I'm sorry, what were you singing? "La de da de da, la de da de da, - what's the name of that...
I'd like to see the freaky monster I remember from one Street story episode of Sesame Street who was running around stealing from everybody to have been used again so maybe I could track down this character easier and find this episode again!:D
Okay- but anyway, the Geefle and the Gonk...
Sounds like it could be a funny cartoon series- I wouldn't mind seeing some of the Inspector Gadget and the Gadgetinis series sometimes. It seems like I've seen that clip of Penny reuniting with Brain on the series on Youtube somewhere....
Here's a working link for that live action...
Of the Looney Tunes movies, I do like "Space Jam" but I can't say I'm real fond of "Back in Action"- it could because I watched at some odd hour of the morning when I was barely awake and so remember very little of it.
Even so, I don't recall it being nearly as good as "Space Jam".
And for...
For the record, though "Beam me up, Scotty" was never actually said on "Star Trek", William Shatner does have Captain Kirk finally say that in one of his "Star Trek" books (and sorry, but I forget which one right now.)
Rick does say, "Play it, Sam" in "Casablanca" though.
And I'm pretty...
Wow- just wanted to say thank you for whoever nominated me for some categories. Wasn't expecting that at all.
And to address what some forum members were expressing, I can understand some of those complaints to a degree. Awards in general can feel like popularity contests, but I don't think...
