Well, in response to your question about Lyman. Jim Davis had mentioned in the Garfield 20th Anniversary book that he has been asked about that and there is a list of reason's why he's not around anymore. The most common one: Don't look in Jon's basement. But there was no mention of his...
Hmmm. I'm not sure. I think I started watching around the time Mr. Hooper died. I remember most 80s episodes. My brother was born in 1986 and I remember watching it with him when he was little. I'd say I stopped sometime before the 90s. Though I remember a few shows I've seen in the 90s...
I've seen Barkley recently in the segment with Elmo's trycycle. So I'm hoping Linda's still around to take care of him even though she's not seen on the show anymore.
It seems like Barkley's suffering the same fate as Odie.
(If you remember the old Garfield strips with Jon's friend Lyman...
I guess I'll have to remember not to fall for that one when I see them do something like that with TV shows.
By the way, we kind of got of subject. I asked about the Frank/Richard Miss Piggys and I never really got a response. Everybody just started talking about the entire series box sets...
I've also seen something like that with "Sabrina, the Teenage Witch."
You're saying ebay just puts stuff up like that to rip people off? It would be pretty unlikely that they would have an entire "Muppet Show" box set after they just released the first season.
Yeah, Elmo could have done a specific letter song.
La la la la la la la la, "L" song. La La la la la la la la "L" song. L is for lemon. L is for lime. That's the letter L.
Yeah, if they're going to keep the segment on, they should at least make new ones.
Also, I know Matt's Big Bird is not quite right, but I think I remember one or two JTE segmets where Matt's Big Bird's voice sounded very much like Carroll's. I'm guessing these were probably more recent segments.
I really don't know. I don't remember the voice. I just remember reading he was performed by Jerry Nelson. I'm sorry I don't know enough about the sketch to give you more info than that.
Hmmm. I don't think I've seen a show with the old JTEs where Big Bird had to look for Ernie in a box, but it does seem to have a better concept now. As for Matt's Big Bird voice, it doesn't always sound quite right, but it seems to have gotten a bit better in the later episodes. Still that...
Yeah, I've noticed that too. In most openings that I can remember the only Muppet that was seen was Big Bird. Even when Elmo started getting popular he wasn't in the opening credits. He was just everywhere else. Lol. That's kind of strange.
As for Elmo singing Big Bird's trademark...
Believe me. I knew that. I'm an expert on Warner Bros. cartoons. That one has always been one of my favorites.
I think Jim was still around when that one was made. I do recall seeing in Sesame Encyclopedia something about a Mummy or Pharoh Ernie performed by Jerry Nelson. That's...
I don't know about "We Wish You a Merry Christmas," but I can recall three versions of "Keep Christmas With You."
The first was on "Christmas Eve on Sesame Street" where Bob and the kids did the song in sign langauge. Then the kids sang it again at the end and the lyrics were posted on the...
Actually, I'm getting a little confused about when they have Frank perform Piggy in season 1 and when it's Richard. I just saw the UK spot in the Peter Ustinov episode where both Piggy and Fozzie sing and they're both voiced by Frank. What was up with that?
I'm guessing by the time that...
Oh, I see what you mean. Kind of like a Warner Bros. cartoon I remember where a cat goes fishing and the fish leave him a note that says, "You can't catch us fish without a worm." I guess the "Sesame Street" writers might have had that one in mind when they wrote the script.
I really didn't...
They could release a DVD set. If they couldn't make a season by season DVD, they could maybe make a box set including the most memorable episodes. Ex: The premire episode; Mr. Hooper's Death; Maria and Luis's wedding, etc.
I'm pretty sure the "Here Fishy, Fishy, Fishy!" sketch was Jim's Ernie.
I'm not really sure of Steve's first Ernie sketch though. These days they do a lot with Steve's Ernie. It's hard to keep up.
This one I remember very clearly. Basically, it took place in the usual Monsterpiece Theater setting. Alistair Cookie (Cookie Monster) introduces the cast, Richardo Monsterbaun as Ali Baba. He doesn't want to introduce all the theives since there are so many of them, but the theives insist...
