Not every street story has a celebrity in it (last season had, like, 3). And the reason they mostly appear with Elmo, Abby and Murray is because the Word of the Day bits are filmed in LA, so they can only bring a few puppeteers (normally Kevin, Leslie, Matt and Joey).
I don't want to triple post, but this ep. was filmed during season 42, so it was before they started work on ETM. I actually think it's not that bad; the music is funky and the lyrics are repetitive, but it's not as much as an EW Song.

I'm pretty sure that Live365 tries to connect each song to Amazon somehow and if the song isn't there, it finds the closest thing in title or album.
And the songs sound so good because Phillip gets the material in the highest quality available, then edits them to make them sound clean...
