On the same sarcastic tone - I sure have seen a lot of Muppet merchancise out there in the stores the last decade or so. I see what you mean about quality of product, but you are dwelling in the negative here when there is an upside. Everything you have said is true and I have posted about my...
Yeah. Snow Dogs is pretty offensive. It's sad to see an Oscar winner do disposable kiddie flicks, but my feeling is that Disney may be the best bet. It doesn't come without bad feelings though.
Rivkin has helmed Henson Co under some really crummy projects (like MFS and Jack) that I don't...
And I think the Swinetrek characters still come out in waye 4 as has been mentioned several times. Wave three should still be Scooter, Rowlf, Zoot, Lew Zeland and the Swedch Chef.
What really shined about Muppet Stuff was the merchandise. From wind-up Doozers to Labyrinth plushes they had it all! I remember visiting NY one year and stopping by only to find it had been convertied to a flower shop. I really miss the little store on 833 Lexington Ave.
The Muppet Stuff store was quite tiny, but they always had an interesting window display - and the best toys on earth. They also had hand painted Kermit trim running throughout the roon. It had a charm all its own, but no gimics. I miss that store. :(
Henson owns the rights to Fraggle Rock in whole (therefore - EMTV does). Just because a company owns the rights to several casts of characters doesn't mean that they licence them all when deals are made. Actually that would be a very rare thing. It could easily mean less revenue for the company...
I doubt any Fraggles will appear, Josh. The commercials commemorate the 25th anniversary of The Muppet Show and Fraggle Rock is a seperate license altogether. It would be cool, though.
I have doubts about the EM being in a commercial because they are barely even used in projects these days...
Statler and Waldorf so soon! Wow. I wonder if any more spots are planned. Haven't heard of any. I guess it's a safe bet that Pepe's out, but Gonzo and Fozzie should make an appearance. I'd love to see the Electric Mayhem in a booth!
Well it does support the new Muppet canibalism with Pepe pushing LJS a few months ago. What's next, Big Bird pushing KFC? LOL! Seriously, I've had my doubts about these commercials, but people seem to like them and they're very tastefully done - no pun intended. :)
Luke-
I agree with you. I have never been much in favor of the Rivkin buy-back because it sort of represents a step back IMHO. That and I have heard talk of Rivkin not understanding that there is a 20 years and older market for the Muppets. Under his direction we could be looking at even more...
Ken-
It's only 1:45 here in beautiful San Francisco. I'm always up I work on my computer (or a computer) for about 14 hours out of every day readying my portfolio for review. Good thing I like this stuff! :)
Any tidbits about the wave 3 characters? Will we see them soon. I'm anxious to see...
Ken-
Rowlf is back on? Very cool! And I don't know what this problem is with Folyd's nose, I think it looks fine. He does have a rather large shnoz. Maybe other people are taking measurements. LOL! I'll end that bit of the conversation right there. :)
Where will this Rowlf variant be...
Well that makes sense because the Labs playset was known to have the slight delay on it and the exclusives from TRU seem to be coming out a little after the regular frigures debut. Makes sense...kinda. I ordered the Kermit Tux, but I really want to pick out the exclusive EB Piggy myself to make...
Yeah, that's me - I tend to work on everything at once! "Baby steps" - good idea. Bobo would approve. LOL! If it accounts for anything, i've always favored Gonzo's purple suit. Sam looks totally awesome. What will you use for his featers and the feathered fur on his head (ostrich feathers)?
That's the spirit. I am anxious to see it. I wish I had puppet building skills. That's next on the list after I complete my portfolio, job hunt and various website projects (including MC - a lot more work than I thought, but great stuff). I am joining the Bay Area Puppet Guild so I'm sure to...
