I really don't see it from you guys' perspectives; this is more of a fun, behind-the-scenes look thing than an American Idol-style thing. This is virtually like a DVD extra that they're just putting online. Okay, so they're building up a new character? Is that really a big deal?

I felt the same, until his over usage and slight shift the storytelling style made him a ham. And that's now spreading to Alan, which I really don't like.
I would like to point out how dumb it is for him to state they talked about "red" earlier, as in the segment right before that one.

I believe that when she auditioned, there wasn't an intention race-wise. She just happened to be Indian. Here, the season's going to be about Hispanic culture, so a Hispanic human is picked deliberately.
So, season 43's over with, which means it's time to find out what's going with the next season! There's some slight info over on Muppet Wiki. The most important thing is: more Jerry Nelson material, which is fantastic. I hear there's also a Jerry tribute they filmed, but there's no real details...
I don't see why they would. There's nothing illegal about the spoofs they're doing. For the songs, I'm sure they either get permission from the original publishers, or change the melody enough to sound similar to the original song, but making sure it's a different tune entirely.
