Well, he didnt say "Are you one of those Muppet Central people?" but we knew what he meant. Btw, Steve Whitmire wrote a really cool letter to MC readers not to long ago.
Muppet fandom is unique, in that the fans are pretty underground (even though I think Muppets are well known the world over...
For the first time in awhile I actually briefly looked at the tv yesterday, and to my surprise I saw a rather large orangish guy in the bottom right corner of the squares...why it was Bear! From Bear in the big Blue House...a repeat I had never seen...but gosh was it nice to see him. I had...
True. JHC didnt start doing 'remakes of classic stories' as features until post JH.
Anyways, glad they reshowed this. If Muppet Movie is a full course, this is just an appetizer and should be viewed as such. I actually now find it more enthralling to see more of a edgy/inappropriate side...
Just picked up Spy Muppets: Licence To Croak for the gba in the mall tonight...and guess what? It was only $19.99! Im really excited about it, as it looks like it could be the best darn Muppet video game in years, and one of the first truly cool adventure games(theres a story mode it seems)...
The Muppets turn 50 in 2005...this is a massive milestone that I hope JHC pulls out all the stops for.
In my honest opinion, the Muppets have done more for the good of the world, peoples imagination, laughter, and a sense of wonder than Disney, Looney tunes, or any other Americana iconic...
Speaking of scripts, Im feverishly working on that 'edgy/hip' Muppet film script treatment...luckily over the last few years coincidentally a few things Ive 'wished' for openly have come true(ie: Kermit on the treet segment on Kimmel) so who knows. Its something else to be able to in my own mind...
Hey! Good post. Well, there was a lot of discussion 5 years ago about having a gathering summer of 99...but it took an official Muppet Convention 3 years later to bring everyone together...and even then a lot couldnt attend. The best thing has been these Muppet appearences, like Carrol Spinney...
I wouldnt mind so much...its just this means all their performers will be spent focused on this and not much else...and then this is what they will be promoting on the eve of the FIFTYETH Annv Year? No no no...between this news and the closing of the NY HQ I fell sad. This better be one darn...
Most of the Muppeteers seem to live and work on the West Coast it would seem(not Sesame/etc performers) Also, for over a decade they've been operating in Hollywood as someone pointed out. I remember Luke pointed out this possible scenario over a year ago. It's a symbolic loss, but perhaps the...
Oh man, I agree...but at this point, I'm not surprised at any move these days.
The news we gather from JHC HQ is usually one of closures, layoffs, etc as of late...this sadly is just a more final step. I think could can come of moving and consoliating to Hollywood. New York my be the spiritual...
If this is true, it's a sad day for JHC history...but like the Muppet Movie, perhaps it's time for Kermit and the gang to finally move to California.
And as everyone knows, California is where it's at!
...and we know what this means...if there is ever a Muppetfest again, it's coming back...
weird seeing a list of planned or tentative figures thru the end of 2004...I must admit, that its hard to get excited about figures that wont be here for at least a year from now...tho that series 10 is probably the most exciting series listed.
Just wish the Sal/penguin, Uncle Deadly and other...
Didnt someone say in another thread that Kermit the Frog hinted there might be a show yet in the works? I think we can all agree that by 2005 there will certainly be a new Muppet show(hopefully in 2004)
How did I miss this thread? It is truly a special occation to be able to see live and in person, as well as meet Muppets and muppet performers!
Between this and the Oscar tour, its been a pretty good year for fans.
I had no idea Sweetums was gonna be there! Very very cool. Since there was...
I think the Gonzo being an alien gimmick is canon only to MFS, as Im pretty sure in the overall Muppet canon he's still a 'whotheheckisthisblueweirdo'?
Wait, all it is is a port of the not very fun gba version? I was hoping itd be a whole new game...weird. Well for $5 bucks, hey why not?
Tho as Phil would agree, Muppets Inside is one of the BEST Muppet PC games ever!
