If anything, he went above and beyond. We've all heard stories on how Whitmire would literally be in a tiny cramped car trunk like space with his hand in the air for hours at a time performing(parades, events, etc)
You are right about the singing...how in the heck could Disney find a...
Well, it's an open secret that Caroll Spinney has had a number of unfortunate politics aimed his way in the SW behind the scenes climate. When it was brought up awhile back, some thought mere salacious rumors were being bandied about, but it was confirmed by two of Spinney's friends. There's...
There's this weird sort of mannerism that Kermit has...you see it in his weird spastic flailing impromptu dances, like on say muppets.com or elsewhere. Just so many nuanced quirks and things about Kermit way beyond the "voice"; all of which seems gone outside of Steve's Kermit.
Im wondering...
Often times in Hollywood, multiple scripts hired by a studio for a film in development will be pooled together and amalgamated into one singular script...often they will hire one final writer to oversee such a potporri. So it would not surprise me if "Greatest" was scrapped(I personally was not...
I'm aware of a lot of backroom politics and situations regarding Sesame Workshop that are better left offline, but I have never heard any salacious or disconcerting rumors regarding Steve.
Let's see Disney find someone who is willing to do the sort of hardcore and exhaustive physical things...
I agree. Dave Goelz has personally gone to small obscure book signings here and there with Gonzo in tow, and with the exception of one time with Pepe and then the Muppet live show cruise...I cant recall of Muppets not being performed by their signature performer. I can understand Swedish Chef...
Well Steve is HARDCORE. He's notorious for holding his arm up for hours in the heat performing Kermit while cramped into a tiny space...like in a parade. There's a lot of great talented performers...but how many people can be on the level of Whitmire, Kennedy, Goelz, Nelson, Mazzio, Baretta...
But but..."You can never leave the magic" :)
Btw, were you able to go to Muppetfest? Im hoping next year we see Disney put on something similar
I hate to say it, but this is how I see this "new" Kermit
(2002 Mcdonalds "Kermit" commercial)...
Wow, hardcore! I remember dorking around on BBS stuff in 90/91, but it wasnt til 1994 that I began using AOL/Compuserv type networks...and not til 1996 that I was fully on the world wide web.
Do you know anyone from way back in the day thats still active, Muppet fan wise? Virtually everyone I...
Um, what? Who was complaining about the 2007 TMNT fan? I consider it one of the best films of 2007 period, and to me its the absolute best theatrical release since the original. I could not have asked for a more amazing TMNT film experience. Who are these people complaining? The 2003 series and...
1. I think Frogboy may be right, in that some sort of negotiation(good or bad) is going on. It's likely that if Whitmire doesnt return, they haven't settled on a permanent replacement.
The Muppets and especially Kermit sans Whitmire would be such a massive blow given all the other characters...
Oh it's not better...I was rather dismayed when I saw the Kermit performance from the VMA preshow both voice and mannerism wise.
I'm definitely with you on all points Kynan.
Well the company Puppet Heap makes the Muppets now. There is no longer a connection or working relationship between Disney/Muppets Studios/MHLLC and the JHC.
You are right about the nuanced subtlety, mannerisms, and quirk regarding new Kermit.
While Whitmire's Kermit didnt sound quite...
I just saw the "new" Kermit talking, with Lady Gaga at the MTV VMA pre show.
If that is Artie, is it possible he's doing a distinct 1950's Kermit impersonation?
Here's "new" Kermit speaking the other day:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ifd4gjIJ9Bc
And here is 1950's Kermit from Sam and...
The Muppets feel like their Muppety selves on most the Muppets.com sketches(to me) oddly enough. I think those are pure magic.
However, Im gonna be straight up...watching all the available footage(fan and pro filmed) on youtube from D23...I didn't ONCE get that goosebumpy, elated or magical...
Thanks for posting the email. Not sure it illuminates or alleviates one way or the other...again a part of me thinks people are bending out of shape over what could very well just be a few week or month hiatus for Whitmire. But the fan community has been surprised before my seemingly jarring...
Well as much as hardcore Muppet fandom is a bit underground compared to most fandoms, itd be baddd news for Disney backlash wise to have pulled that sort of stunt.
I keep thinking we'll hear in a week or two that Whitmire was just taking a rest or had other commitments, but Disney...
