When visiting my mother in England, I mentioned in front of guests that if my little sister (then just pre-teen) was annoying me I'd just tell her to get her fanny out of my room. Her guests were horrified. Later I learned that "fanny" was not a term you used when speaking of your little...
Mokey actually has two colors in her hair: blue and green. I buy whole white ostrich feathers and dye them using Rit dye. For her I use teal and kelly green, mixing in some lemon yellow to the latter because I find it tends to turn out bluer than I want.
Here's my Mokey:
There was a time when "moron," "imbecile," and "idiot" were technical terms designating specific intelligence ranges, not insults. I remember when "the R word" was a simple description. There are a lot of terms describing races, religions, etc that started out as normal descriptions and...
How is PETA a fandom? They're a group with a political mission and precious little sense. They don't rally around something they love, they act against those they declare to be the enemy.
As for FNAF, here's something I doodled a few weeks ago...
Those puppets look amazing. I'd like to see more videos!
In the first video, it looks like the puppeteer is sitting crunched up, with his arms in the jaws, legs hooked over the rim of the pot in the vines, head bent forward in the stem. It seems uncomfortable. Am I misreading it? (I don't...
Yep. I cut the bowls off two plastic spoons, then filed the edges to remove any trace of the neck and to make sure the bowl would lay flat. The plastic is part of a thick vinyl placement I bought years ago. It will be reinforced with black floral wire on the back.
The finished puppet has been posted in another thread. His name is Lawliet. Say hi if you haven't already.
So I'm still between commissions, and I figured I'd take it easy, chill out, not worry about puppets for a little while. And look what happened when I turned my back last night.
Is...
Oh, the things I would do with a 3-D printer. I'd make glasses that didn't look cobbled together, for starters. Er, it 3-D printer plastic strong stuff?
Mine comes from an old Darkwing Duck episode. Whenever someone explains something unclearly, or something is twice as complicated as it needs to be (as is often the case--I work in a government office staffed with attorneys and paralegals) I respond with a deadpan "That's about as clear as a...
It's considered polite to ask another fan's permission before using their characters. Not that fans are likely to sue each other, but failing to do so could create bad blood within the fandom, and who needs that? I haven't used others' characters, but when I had one of the people here make a...
If the man had a rainbow dyed beard, that was Lar DeSouza dressed as Sailor Bacon. It was the payoff for a fundraiser that raised over $12,000 to fight Muscular Dystrophy. He and his wife do it every year. So, three cheers for the fat hairy guy in the magical girl costume!
As for the...
When you posted this, you insulted all writers in the Muppet fandom. Thoughtlessly, of course, but that's how many insults are thrown around. We were just replying in a constructive fashion.
Pulling this thread back on topic, isn't is obnoxious to a) snipe at other fandoms, and b) snipe...
Thank you. Your check is in the mail. ;)
Seriously, every fandom I've been in has had a lot of slapdash, first-draft-if-that fanfic that is not worth reading, because there are those who think that words in a row equals literature. And then there are those who write stories because they have...
I didn't see it, but I have to wonder how it could be going further than the other two.
A perverse part of me kind of wishes it got left up for Philip to see and deal with. Bet that would have gotten the user banned.
So I finally finished this:
His name is Lawliet, and he's an homage to L from Death Note. He may seem kind of spooky, but he's mainly just on another wavelength from everyone else.
He's got a nice squooshy face, which is kind of ironic, as he's not a demonstrative character. His voice...
