What lunch boxes did you have?

I don't know if this topic was ever posted before, but if not, time to get rolling! One of the coolest things growing up was getting a new lunch box. From Kindergarten through grade school, I had: Disney World The Partridge Family Kung Fu Emergency! Happy Days Star Wars This was back in the...

David and Maria DID get married

I think one package that could be marketable would be Season 1 songs performed by the Muppets. Octopus's Garden, Good Morning Starshine, Yellow Submarine (in English) and Windy (in German) have all showed up on youtube. But it would be a treat to see Lucy in the Sky and- speaking of holy grails-...

David and Maria DID get married

Yes, this segment does exist, and I'll maintain that to my dying day. It may have been one of the few (if only) times a skit was aired, then pulled on the grounds of questionable taste. It might only exist now deep in the bowels of the Sesame archives, gathering dust. If it ever does see the...

David and Maria DID get married

You had to be around in 1976, but in one skit David and Maria did tie the knot. They were demonstrating round things. David was the groom, Maria was the bride, and Bob was the minister. The couple exchanged vows, but when it came time for David to put the ring on Maria's finger, he couldn't find...

    Seeing Double

Hey there folks! Haven't been here in a while, but I got a neat question for you, if you're up for it. Back in the mid 70's there was a clip of a little boy getting four cones (all chocolate, all soft-serve) from an ice cream man (check it out on youtube). I always loved the honky-tonk piano...

    I won't be posting anymore...

Abbyseeingya! Well folks, after posting here for the last five years or so, I'm saying so long. As far as Old-School topics go, I think just about every conceivable subject under the sun has been covered, and I really have nothing more to say. Most of my old comrades-in-arms from the ancient...

"Grover Serves a Burger" - ahead of it's time?

No, White Castle has been around for years. After this skit first aired in the late 70's/early 80's, we started to see a chain out here on the East Coast called Fuddrucker's (yes, that's the name!) that sells giant burgers. Not as big as the one served in this skit, but they are pretty hefty.

    Remember me?

I certainly remember you. Last year you sent me your moral support after my father's death, which I'm still grateful for. Thank you. I don't get around here much anymore either. With writing and illustrating a children's book, working, and helping my pastor run his church, I got some pretty...

What would happen if Sesame Workshop retired Elmo?

I wonder what the repercussions would be if they dared to show an episode with no Elmo at all. No Elmo's World, no street scenes, just a glimpse of him in the opening credits, and that's it. Would children/adults go through withdrawal symptoms? Would children be traumatized and need to be...

The Official "I'm looking for/trying to remember a sketch" thread

A clip does exist- but I haven't seen it in ages. It was Joe Raposo singing, and they had shots of all different feet. I do remember a verse "Thin feet (shot of bird feet), fat feet (an elephant) wipe them on the mat feet (wiping muddy feet on a Welcome mat before going in the house). So...

You Seen a V Around Here?

    Haven't seen a V, but I did see a Roman numeral 5, if that helps.:wisdom:

    Les Paul Dies.

I knew he was well in his 90's. Even at his advanced age, he still managed to play two shows every Monday night at the Iridium Club in New York City. I was lucky enough to go with some members of my church band in 2005. We all have Les Paul guitars (I got a Les Paul BASS!) and we all got our...

Frank Zappa & The Mothers Of Invention.

One of my favorite albums was 1979's Sheik Yerbouti. It was one of the few albums I had on vinyl, cassette, 8-track and CD. Frank was great and a dearly miss him.:sing:

    Question about CTW location?

The Teletape Studio (sometimes referred to as Second Stage) was located at Broadway and 81st Street. Originally a Loew's movie theatre, it was home for Sesame Street from 1969 to 1992when they pulled up stakes and moved over to Queens. Carroll Spinney once mentioned some Muppet segments were...

    SST 40th Anniversary Event

I'm sorry you got cut off too. It feels frustrating to be THAT CLOSE and get turned away, after waiting patiently with everybody else getting their turn "Frank, please do your Miss Piggy voice for us PLEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAASSSSSEEEE!" Maybe we'll have better luck next time.:)

    SST 40th Anniversary Event

Yep, that was me! :super:Although I was disappointed I got cut off, it was cute to hear the little girl before before me say "Hi, I'm nine years old and I've been watching for ten years!" To balance things, I did meet Bob a few years back at Sesame Place and got to talk with him for a good...

    SST 40th Anniversary Event

One Question Please I was there too. I was the next one on line to ask a question- I was on stage left, closest to Frank. I was about to open my mouth when it was announced "Sorry, time's up! No more questions." So a belated thank you for those that asked more than one question, and MAYBE...

Ernie and Bert's seldom seen kitchen

Bert and Ernie's kitchen Way back in the first season (I was there so I know firsthand) Ernie had Cookie Monster come in the kitchen and Ernie sang "If I Knew You Were Coming I'd Have Baked A Cake", originally done by Tommy Dorsey, if I'm not mistaken (somebody can always look it up.) Ernie...
