Whoops, forgot to mention that the local branch of the IHT has a courier pigeon service. I told them I had moved shop, so they arranged to have a pigeon fly the paper in for me early in the morning. If you want me to make other arrangements, I can; shouldn't be too much of a problem.
IHT...
(pokes head out door and grabs the day's IHT, which is sitting on the doormat)
Hey, Sara, good to see you again...and that goes double for you too, Scooter! (turns head) Nora, Scooter's back!
Nora: (comes running out) Hey, Scooter, I need to talk to you about the script...after Gonzo's human...
(Storyteller leaves room, bearing a long scroll of parchment) I've got to go talk to that nice young Hunt.
MN: Yeah, you and half the female membership of the RHLC. See you around. (mixer dings - yeah, it was a very short hour) Ice cream's up. (scoops some out into cups and puts rest into a...
All right, here's the preliminary description of room 7, Chez Newsgirl et Amies. Or whatever we decide to call this place.
We've got two bedrooms, a sitting room and a bathroom. I'm in one room, which is now decorated in the style of mid-70s rec room. I've got bean bag chairs, rock posters...
Okay, Ed, thanks. (unplugs mixer and parks it in a box containing stereo and lava lamp) All right, next stop is #7!
Nora: Can I go see Scooter after we move in? (grabs a box containing her mystery novels and her Sherlock Holmes costume)
MN: Don't see why not. All right...I've got dibs on the...
(unloads ice cream maker) Who's up for a little sorbet or gelato? (plugs it in and takes out already prepped mixes) I've got mango-orange, coconut cream, kiwi, strawberry-banana...you know, a real tropical bonanza.
Nora: I'd like the mango-orange.
Storyteller: Got any radish?
MN: No, Gobo and...
(comes into lobby with a stack of gear in tow, followed by the Storyteller and Nora)
Okay, I'm assuming this is the right place. (rings bell) We're here!
Nora: I need to lie down. My little brother and sister almost destroyed the house this morning with one of their ongoing science projects...
I've got an uncle, an aunt and three cousins in Massachusetts, at Newburyport. Last time I was there was while we were on our way up to Maine for a camping trip.
Humble...oh, yes, that's a misnomer if e'er there was one.
Things are generally peaceful in here...sometimes. And Sara, congrats on hitting the big 2K!
Yeah, Amanda's told us some good stories about her delightfully zany uncle.
Ah, well, it's like Kermit said on VH1: "Everybody obeys Miss Piggy, nobody gets hurt."
I can see a lot of Miss Piggy's victims sitting around in bandages and singing "Everybody Hurts" by REM.
Seven.
Richard = Hilarious
You're right, it has been a little slow around here. But considering how many pages we've posted in the last week or so, maybe a little slowness is okay. Gives people time to catch up.
We're all well. We got tossed about a bit here on the coast but I hear that the storm really hit down south. Most of my classmates and I fled campus for the weekend because the power got knocked out.
And you know something...we've had an Alberto, we've just had an Ernesto...we've had a Bert and...
Last book I read? That would be "The Samurai's Daughter," a murder mystery by Sujata Massey. Good book.
I've actually read it a few times; the last time I read it was this afternoon. I love mysteries more than any other type of fiction.
We got some of the remnants of TSE as it roared up the east coast. Around here, it caused some flooding and took out the power and phone lines for a bit.
I hear that they really got it in the neck down in the Carolinas and Florida and stuff.
Elmo is evil...so tell me something I don't already know.
Hi, guys, I'm back. We lost phone service when the remnants (and very strong remnants they were) of TS Ernesto blew up through here, and we only just got it back a few hours ago. Everyone and everything's OK...but the yard's a mess...
