Oooh, that really bites. (chorus of groans at bad tooth joke)
You've got my full support and best wishes, Kathy. I had my wisdom teeth removed last August, and it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. And they're really careful about anesthesia and lidocaine and all that, so you probably...
Well, for Beaker, my mom used a rather pale pink fabric. And everything looks really light because of the camera flash, so it's probably neither your resolution nor your plush.
Does Richard appreciate it? I'll ask him. (leans back and looks skyward) Well, Richard, how does it look from up there?
Storyteller: And then, the fearsome Foxglove Fraggle raised his bony arms over the crowd of terrified Fraggles, and in a terrible voice proclaimed...
(door opens)
Nora: Hold on, someone's here.
(enter MN)
Storyteller: Well, it's about time you got back here, Miss Newsy Floozy.
MN: (snort) And a...
MN: The Complete Cases of Sherlock Holmes! (takes first volume and quickly leafs through a couple of pages) Excellent, most excellent! Thank you, Kim! (turns to another page) Oh, good, it's got A Scandal in Bohemia...Holmes had feelings for Irene Adler; he just wouldn't admit it.
Nora: I guess I...
MN: Well, as long as we're here, we might as well hand out our presents.
Nora: Problem is, all our recipients don't seem to be here.
MN: Well, we'll just announce them publicly, and if the recipients don't show, we'll drop them off at their door. They're all roommates, so that makes it easier...
MN: Storyteller, get in here, Big Bird's gotten you a present!
Storyteller: A present? For me? (discovers feather pen and journal) Oooh, they're beautiful, beautiful!
Nora: And she's in rapture, rapture.
Storyteller: Oh, this journal is just begging to be filled. I must open a new bottle of ink...
In my house, the traditional Christmas feed has been, since I can remember, roast beef and Yorkshire pudding, that most British of meals.
We don't serve any sweets after Christmas dinner because A: we've been indulging ourselves with sugar and butter in assorted forms all season and B: we're...
MN: Hmm...we've been waiting around for the B's, but now I think we ought to go catch some Z's.
Nora: (yawn) This gift exchange is going to take a bit, you know?
MN: Yeah, and I'm spending New Year's in New Jersey. I hope we finish before then.
Storyteller: Come on, let's go make cocoa and...
I got a good haul this year too. For one thing, I've received a new laptop, since my old one's been having lots of problems lately. (You know how during the setup, they ask you to type in a name for the computer; I've christened mine 'Scooter.')
I also got:
a bottle of coconut-lime-verbena...
I really want to see that article too. Sounds like it's a must-read for all the RHLC types.
I had a Richard-related dream a night or so ago. It was back on the set of Fraggle Rock, and all the Muppeteers are down in the trench doing "The Rock Goes On," just the way it's done in the...
MN: Oooh, a coconut flake sounds delicious. Thanks, Ed.
Nora: Is the photo sent?
MN: It is. Net's a little slow tonight, but I got the photo out into cyberspace.
Storyteller: Wow, everyone's gathered around the tree, as one, Fraggle, Muppet and silly creature. I must do a poem...or an epic...
Nora: (sotto voce) Gotcha; I'll tell her in a bit. She's been kinda frazzled lately, don't ya know.
MN: (emerges from room) Found the disc. What's this about the E's?
Nora: We're going by real names, not user names.
MN: Ah. Fair enough. Carry on, Ed. (salutes and sits down at computer)
Nora: Let's see...your user name starts with M, so we're down the line a bit.
MN: That's cool. It'll give me time to eyeball this pot of marmalade.
Nora: Really? I didn't know you could make marmalade.
MN: Yeah. I'm using callimondin oranges. They're the really little puckery kind that grow on...
(gang has been out celebrating with respective families; now all are back in room 7)
Nora: So you've got a new laptop? Sweet...
MN: Yeah, my old one's been having difficulties lately, so I get to start the semester off with a new one. I just never realized that Bluetooth was so picky...
Nora...
Just wanted to pop in and wish you guys a merry Christmas and happy holidays in general.
Mom got my brother the first season of SNL - with the Land of Gorch. We've seen the episode with Wisss and his smoking craters. He sounds like a cross between Scooter and Janice.
Let's see:
Scooter: I'm your basic genial multitasker who wants to be on everyone's good side (see also: Wembley), and I'm waiting for my moment in the sun. And I wear glasses.
Kermit: I try to keep things together, and I can be a bit snarky if I have to be.
Wembley: I want to be on...
Nora: Got all your presents wrapped?
MN: Right. The ones for the rest of the dorm are out in the common room. The ones for my family are safely under the tree at home.
Nora: How'd you get them there so fast?
MN: A transporter. Got it from the old Star Trek set.
Storyteller: I've done enough...
Too true, too true. It'd be nice if I could see MFC in full. In it, you've got the casts from the Muppet Show, Fraggle Rock and Sesame Street (and the occasional Muppeteer) all gathered around celebrating. I think that's really nice and heartfelt; too bad we don't see much of that sort of thing...
Yeah, at our old parish we did midnight Mass. We moved to our current one six years ago (right around this time, as I recall), and there they do the Mass at 7 p.m. But we've got some good friends at one of the local Episcopal churches (including the rector and his family), and sometimes we'd...
