I never understood why anyone would get so worked up over gender swaps. If you don't like it, go watch the original version. As far as book banning, I oppose that type of censorship.
UPDATE: I received a bid on "Count on Higher" so if anyone is interested in buying it, there's only about a day and a half left to place your bid.

And "Big Bird's Party Games" is still here.

What's funny is that Sesame Street is basically adopting the format of the average PBS Kids show despite being on HBO Max now. Most of the shows on PBS (Arthur, Clifford, Curious George, Martha Speaks etc.) have two, 11-minute stories and some semi-related bits in the middle (whether it be...
This feels like the end of an era, but I don't think it's necessarily bad. There's hardly enough time for in-between bits anyways given the main story takes up 10 minutes and Elmo's World takes about 5 too (plus theme song and credits).
And they phased out most of the good bits a long time...
I am selling the original 1988 release of the "Count It Higher" VHS tape. This is a rare one with a green tape. The tape runs perfectly. Here is the listing below if you are interested in buying, the starting bid is just $14.30.

I am also still selling...
And, I really don't know if Sesame Street would have survived past the '90s without Elmo. He was their cash cow and kept the show alive as other kid show competitors started popping up.
Has anyone on the site ever tried the Swedish Chef's cereal "Cröonchy Stars"? I wonder if any boxes of it still exist. With it being featured in "The Muppets Mayhem", I hope it makes a comeback one day.
Great video, Grumpo!
I would have been most interested to see Muppets Time Machine and The Muppets Leave Hollywood. Very neat concepts that I had never heard of before. Meanwhile, The Next Muppet Movie sounds a lot like the 2011 film mixed with Most Wanted, but still fascinating.
Muppets can be humanoids like Scooter, Roosevelt, Statler, Bunsen, etc. They can also be animals, monsters, etc. I don't see why we have to choose between one or the other.
I feel like everyone's personal "classic era" ends when they stopped watching the show as a kid. That goes for me too because I stopped watching right before Abby's appearance. In my opinion, season 36 was the end of great Sesame. But, I'd still prefer seasons 37-45 over the HBO ones.
Something that I've thought about is the fact that, when Jim Henson died in 1990, it had been a whopping 6 years since the last Muppet film. They generally made one every 2-3 years, and yet there really was no theatrical release in sight at that time. I know Jim was focused on other endeavors...
Elmo's World (and in extension Elmo: The Musical) annoyed me for 2 reasons
1. Elmo was the only major character to regularly appear in these segments
2. When the show was an hour long, it took up 25% of the show and stopped the flow of good segments. You just knew the fun of the show was over...
I have to agree with this thread. Even though I grew up with Elmo, I jumped on the Elmo hate train once I outgrew Sesame. I would say that he ruined the show and that things were better before he took over.
While I still think Elmo's World is boring and that there are way better characters, I...
