Oh man, Dark Crystal. I first saw the movie a few years ago (SO glad I never saw it as a kid), and I've yet to rewatch it, it bothered me that much :P It's so disturbing!

My dad was definitely a "Muppet parent," and I thank him for that :) Of course, I was a kid around the time of their prime, so that helped.

I kinda pictured Gobo visiting Doc once or twice a week, and Doc would happily explain and show to him various things from "silly creature" culture (like he'd sometimes do with Sprocket. For example, the Christmas episode). Maybe even take him to a few nearby places to have fun and learn, like...
I know I listened to Alanis Moriesette (probably spelled that wrong :P) and No Doubt, but I don't have huge memories of going out and buying tons of CDs. I was really more about movies and such. But I was a 90s teen, and still watched cartoons. I wasn't so much into "teen culture" at that time.
