Try using plastic lids from Ice Cream or Margerine tubs. In a oinch, you can also use cardboard, but it won't last for very long. You might also check local hardware store for something called "Gasket Rubber." Most places have 6 x 6 inch squares of rubber that is enough for a puppet mouth...

I'm not really concerned about matching anything. I just want to make sure that when they say "flesh" I know what they mean... after all, there's a lot fo diffenece between a "Bert Flesh color" and an "Ernie Flesh color" -- not to mention the wide range of colors on human beings.

I've always heard he was made from two cardboard mailing tubes -- one that was slightly smaller than the other was used for the head and the body (or shoulders, at least), were made from the larger diameter one so that the head could shoot down inside the body when he got scared.
