Noticed a lot from recent posts, things that people fear- bullies, bees, the list goes on...
Imagine something that you fear. Something that's holding you back. Something that seems so painful to deal with. We all have burdens like this.
Then imagine facing up to your fear, and conquering...
Laverne and Shirley in the Army, with Ron Palillo (Arnold Horshack from Welcome Back Kotter) as their commanding officer, a TALKING PIG!
We're talking EMMY NOMINATION here, ain't we? :)
Up here, it's "Arr-range" and not too far from me are three towns: East Orange, West Orange, and South Orange. It's a bit confusing to people driving through on the way to New York City to see a highway sign:
Next Exit- Montclair
Cedar Grove
The Oranges...
Thank you, Sarge.
As I found out 30 years ago, if you don't stand up to bullies, noone else will. Sometimes in life you have to make a big choice- either assert yourself and let the bully know you're not going to take it anymore, or allow the bully to victimize you, and your suffering continues...
Alas, when I was a wee tyke, DZ didn't exist. Or Chuck E. Cheese (although one not far from my house was rumored to be a front of the Mob!)
The closest we had was The Children's Place, which was a clothing store found in a few malls. There are still some around today, but not like in the 70's...
Maybe they'll start with Roman numerals.
But before my Generation X got that term slapped on us, the Baby Boomers before us didn't get rebranded Generation W.
Before, we were the Baby Busters because there were so few of us (born between 1965-1975) due to the advent of the Pill.
Whitney Houston's "I'll Always Love You". Back where I used to work they played the same ten songs on the P.A. ad nauseum, and if there was a song you didn't like, it was gonna be a LOOOOOOOOOOONNNNNNNNNNGGGGGG day. Because your eardrums would be subject to that song about 20 times that day...
It's a tricky situation, especially in adolescence. Between the ages of, say, 13 to 16 both of them are at volatile stages in their life, neither of them are fully matured (although girls tend to be more mature than guys at that age, chalk one up for you gals!) and breakups seem to be a dime a...
Wow, my thread got swallowed by a rope!
Happy birthday to my favorite Long Island snowbird, and just think! In a few more years, you and I will qualify for the Senior discount at Denny's! (Lucky us!)
First round of coffee on me.
All the best- Brian
I'll ask the judges where "The Puzzle Place" falls. Not a Henson-sanctioned production, but performed by Muppeteers on hiatus from Sesame Street.
Still a fine outing for Jim Martin, Noel MacNeal, Peter Linz, and Carmen Osbahr.
Even picked up an Emmy or two.
20 years ago, Bruce Springsteen came out with a song "57 Channels and Nothin' On".
Now we have close to a thousand channels, in HD, and sometimes there's STILL nothin' on!
Wanna know how far we've come, folks? Back in the pre-cable 70's, we only had seven channels to choose from (if you're...
Back in the early 70's there was a little troupe called the Ritts Puppets.
They were featured on an early-morning religious show called "Christopher Close-Up".
They had a five minute block where the host (whose name escapes me after nearly four decades) would open up a little puppet theatre and...
