    Questions about anything

Ever notice when a movie comes out in January, the ads claim "Critics vote (fill in the blank) 'Best Picture of the Year!' " . Kinda makes the rest of the year anti-climactic, doesn't it?

    When you need to rant...

You can do what I did when I was laid up with a broken ankle for two months: get out a sketchpad and a pen and let your imagination soar. You might surprise yourself with what comes out. Even if it's just scribbles, you're making a statement, and makes the time pass a LTTLE faster.

    James Gandolfini Passes Away

It was nice that much of the Sopranos was shot literally in my backyard. And Holstein's Ice Cream Parlor in Bloomfield, where the last scene was shot, is a very nice, retro-style soda fountain, looks a lot like Hooper's store back in the day. He also made several documentaries spotlighting...

    Best Sesame Albums

The only difference between Original Book and Record and Sesame Street 1 is the cover. Album contents are the same. SS1's cover was a street shot from around 1974, and had Snuffy posing with the cast. (Now why couldn't they turn around THEN and see him? Would've saved Big Bird ten years of...

    Best Sesame Albums

Here's my trinity- the First Three. 1970 Original Cast Album- I've been blessed to have it autographed by Loretta Long, Bob, and Caroll Spinney. Only took twelve years to get all three autographs, but well worth the wait. 1970 The Year of Roosevelt Franklin (original pressing of 'My Name...

Betty Lou and Prarie Dawn Appreciation Thread

If Betty Lou never did anything else in the entire span of Sesame Street, she will always have a soft spot in my heart for her saga from Season One, "The Boy, the Girl, and the Jellybeans". Nicely illustrated in one of the SS storybooks, but Frank really brought her to life in this 3-part skit...

    "I Know That Voice" documentary

At the same time as Ren and Stimpy, Billy West also created some hysterical skits for Howard Stern's radio show. He was absolutely savage in spoofing Regis Philbin, Jay Leno, and best of all, Larry Fine of the Three Stooges. Made the morning commute worthwhile just to hear him.

    Questions about anything

    1. There might've been an anime or Manga cul-de-sac, if any such characters actually existed in 1947. If the preposed sequel ever gets off the ground, maybe one or two might show up. 2. It's a strange phenomenon for some British singers to sing with American accents, but it's something that's...

R.I.P Esther Williams, Swimmer and MGM Movie Actress

I've always loved when they combined live action and animation, and Hanna-Barbera did an awesome job having Esther in an underwater sequence with Tom and Jerry in "Dangerous When Wet".

    List of Changed Channels

Noggin in its original format (1999-2002) went above and beyond appealling to us Generation X'ers by airing the Sesame Unpaved episodes and the Electric Company. If they were able to get a whole block of early 70's PBS shows, I could've died and gone to heaven. But Unpaved and EC was plenty...

    List of Changed Channels

Antenna TV is now what TVLand used to be. TVLand in its original incarnation is what Nick at Nite used to be. It seems wherever they move the Norman Lear sitcoms to (All in the Family, Maude, Good Times, etc.) you do get a decent roster of classic programs, for a while. Then some Executive Vice...

Jean was almost cast in "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory", but turned it down to audition for All in the Family. RIP Edith. You sweet lovable Dingbat.
